Former U.S. President Donald Trump is now sharing his thoughts on the headline-making trial.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star is suing his ex-wife for $50 million over a December 2018 op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post where she claims to be a domestic violence survivor. Although Heard did not mention Depp in the op-ed, he claims that he has lost movie roles, including a $22.5 million dollar paycheck for the sixth Pirates movie, due to the abuse allegations. Heard is countersuing for $100 million dollars and claims that her career has also suffered from stepping forward, including a reduced role in the “Aquaman” sequel.
Many celebrities have weighed in with an opinion on the trial. On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump also decided to weigh in on the trial and give his own take on the highly publicized defamation suit.
Donald Trump Weighs In On Johnny Depp & Amber Heard Trial
It seems that Trump has been watching the trial, but it’s unclear just which side he’s on. The Daily Mail took a screenshot of Trump’s post from the outlet, which is transcribed below.
“Has anybody been watching the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial?” Trump asked. “What a lovely couple!”
“First of all, Johnny sued her for writing an article in a tiny ‘outlet,’ that practically nobody read, because he didn’t want to get bad publicity,” Trump continued, taking aim at the Washington Post.
“How did that work out?” he asked. “She countersued for $100 million.”
“The charges are many & salacious, the nicest of which is that she threw a bottle at him and it took off his finger – She must have a Sandy Koufax type arm,” Trump continued.
He concluded, “Will they get back together and live happily in PEACE?”
Given that Johnny Depp has not even looked at Heard during her testimony, it seems doubtful that reconciliation is in the couple’s future.
Are Any Celebrities Siding With Amber Heard?
Although many celebrities have come out in support of Johnny Depp, several have also come forward to speak out in support of Heard’s abuse allegations, one of which is Howard Stern.
According to The Wrap, Stern called Depp a “narcissist” and was very vocal about his dislike of Depp. Stern claimed that Depp wanted the trial televised because narcissists “think that they can talk their way out of everything.”
“On the narcissism scale, I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist — and what I mean by that is, he figured ‘I’ll put this on TV. And because I’m so persuasive and I’m so smart, and I’m such a wonderful guy,’” Stern said.
He continued: “That’s what narcissists do: ‘I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.’ No you won’t. This will not go well,” he warned. “It’s not going well for you, it’s not going well for her. It’s not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children. It’s just coming off really badly.”
Another celebrity that is supporting Heard’s abuse allegations is Ellen Barkin. Barkin and Depp had previously dated in 1994, and it appears that things did not end well between them.
In the 2020 trial in which Depp sued the British tabloid The Sun, the “Big Easy” actresshad claimed that Depp once threw a bottle of wine across a hotel room and said that he could become jealous and angry with little provocation. Depp lost his libel suit against The Sun and was denied an appeal.
Amber Heard finished her cross-examination on Tuesday afternoon after a fiery back and forth with Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez. Heard had testified to physical, emotional, psychological, and sexual abuse. She alleged that there was an incident in Australia where Depp had “penetrated” her with a bottle that she had “hoped” wasn’t broken.
Vasquez was quick to point out that Heard did not seek medical attention for the incident, nor did she seek medical attention for several other events that were brought up throughout the trial. Heard has still taken several photographic documentation of her alleged injuries, leaving it up to the jury to decide whether they believe Depp caused the injuries.
The trial is expected to go through the end of the month.
