'The Nature Boy,' Ric Flair, is considered by many as the best wrestler to ever do it, and he is looking to continue what many think he is so good at by getting in the ring at 73 years young, as the wrestling legend has been training to get back in the ring to walk that aisle one more time.

The sixteen-time world champion got many wrestling fans talking when rumors spread that Flair was going to wrestle again sometime in the near future. And now Flair has revealed that those rumors are indeed true.

After sharing some clips of training in the ring with fellow wrestling star and friend Jay Lethal, it is looking more and more likely that Flair is going to have at least one more match in the squared circle, and according to wrestling journalist, Dave Meltzer, who shared on his Wrestling Observer Radio program that Flair intends to be involved in a six-man tag team match that would pit Flair and AEW's FTR which consists of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood facing the legendary Rock 'N' Roll Express and a mystery partner.

Meltzer mentioned on his show, “He is planning to wrestle again, yes. I don’t know more details. He told me it was a secret but the rumor has it [that it’s] Ric Flair and FTR against The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and somebody. A match that he is training for [but] not right away. I guess it will get announced when it gets announced if it happens. Something like this could fall through, he could get hurt in training.”

Ric Flair Stricken With Serious Health Issues

What might thwart a potential return to the ring is Flair's recent health problems. Flair has a heart condition called alcoholic cardiomyopathy which is a condition where your heart changes shape because of long-term heavy alcohol use. The changes to your heart's shape cause long-term damage, leading to heart failure and other severe problems.

Back in August of 2017, Flair had bowel surgery which led to various complications including kidney failure that required dialysis treatment and being placed in a medically induced coma. He also has dealt with blood clots and other various health-related issues over the years mostly based on his years of abusing alcohol along with what throws at you, it has been a recipe for hard times that almost killed Flair, but miraculously Flair has been able to fully recover. Which makes his hopes to get in the ring one more time more impressive and scary, depending on who you are asking.

If you ask former WCW announcer Chris Cruise, he would like nothing more than to see Flair not come back in the ring saying on his Facebook, "Hey you rubes, I screw around here a lot, but this is serious: Ric Flair should not be allowed to wrestle. Some reports indicate he has been working out with Jay Lethal in preparation for returning to the ring. He can’t be stopped from doing so in states that don’t have athletic commissions and licensing protocols, but insurance companies can step in and refuse to issue a bond to a promotion that books him. And for those states that do have commissions, they should be contacted to demand that they not allow Flair to wrestle. Simply put, Ric Flair returning to the ring is not wise. No how, no way. He’s 73, in poor health, an alcoholic, and has a pacemaker installed.

Today I emailed the following to the Maryland State Athletic Commission, since I live in Maryland, and will contact other commissions as well. I would encourage you to also email the commission (athletic@dllr.state.md.us) and urge its members to deny Flair a license. It won’t take long and could help keep Flair alive."

Though Cruise has these intentions, Flair has his own intentions to make the match happen and now that tickets are on sale, there seems to be no turning back. With July 31st right around the corner, we will see this go down very soon. And whether you are happy or scared for Flair to see him fight one more match, we have to give it up to a man that continues to want to live his dream, we wish him only the best of luck as it will be quite the spectacle to see!
