In an interview with io9, Howard was asked about her experience directing episode 5. Although the show is supposed to be about Boba Fett, the episode was dedicated almost entirely to the Mandalorian.

“Oh, no. I mean, I absolutely loved that,” Howard said. “[Producers] Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have been incredibly inclusive since the beginning. And so it’s something that they had talked about doing. And it was just so… it was great. I love Mando.”

The last Star Wars film to hit theaters was 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker," which put an end to the nine-episode Skywalker Saga. Although Patty Jenkins is working on a new film called "Rogue Squadron," it remains to be seen when that film will be released.

When asked what it would take for Howard to direct a Star Wars movie, Howard replied, “Oh, my goodness. I think it would take someone asking me.”

It seems like Howard isn't too picky about what she wants to direct, which could be good news to some fans! Howard, the daughter of director Ron Howard, recently revealed that she has been playing with Star Wars toys ever since she was a little girl.

Growing up, Howard said that George Lucas was a family friend, and she told Romper that she used to get Star Wars toys every Christmas.

“Every single year for Christmas, we would get Star Wars figurines before I was even old enough to know who the characters were and what the stories were, I was getting these little figurines, and I was very curious about it, and I was really into it,” she explained. “I learned about Star Wars first through the toys.”

Although Howard said that she “didn’t realize” how much Star Wars knowledge she has, she says she can’t compare to Dave Filoni, who has served as a writer, director, producer, and actor in the franchise for decades. In a recent interview with Indie Wire, Howard gave some high praise to Filoni, who will be writing and producing the latest Disney+ live-action series, “Ahsoka.”

“He knows ‘Star Wars’ better than anyone other than George, and he was taught by George when he was doing all of the ‘Clone Wars’ because they did that together,” Howard explained. “The Mandalorian” showrunner Jon Favreau will be at the helm for this new series as well.

“Without giving anything away, you are going to love the ‘Ahsoka’ show that’s coming up,” Howard teased. “I cannot tell you anything, but what I can say is that you being a fan of the ‘Clone Wars’ will be greatly rewarded.”

Nothing has been revealed about the plot of the show, except that it will be set during the timeline of “The Mandalorian.” Production on the show started on May 9. No release date has been announced for the show, but it is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2023.
