Aaron Carter and Melanie Martin are giving it another shot, but this time the on-again-off-again couple is being proactive about putting the turmoil behind them and entered into an extensive round of couple’s counseling and individual therapy sessions.
The Blast is told Aaron and Melanie made the decision on their own to explore counseling in the hopes that it will bring them together as parents for their 6-month-old son, Prince. A rep for the couple told The Blast the counseling and therapy were “suggested” – as the two have been wrapped up in a bitter custody war – but it was not court-ordered.
Learning The Tools To Help Strengthen Relationship
Aaron and Melanie are excited about the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with themselves and their child, telling The Blast, “We decided that we want to be a family and love each other and treat each other with kindness and learn tools that can help us grow as a strong couple.”
As for how they are finding the personal growth sessions; “We’re taking it day by day and I find that the people we are working with are very beneficial to our future just as long as we apply what we’re being given, Melanie said.
Months of Turmoil
As we previously reported, Melanie had accused Aaron of assault, but later claimed the allegations were due to her postpartum depression. Unfortunately, much of the couple’s drama played out in the public … something they are now trying to avoid.
“It’s obviously been very trying and public and we’re going to keep our relationship a lot more private and sacred,” The Blast is told.
Co-Parenting Their Son
Regarding baby Prince, the couple says, “Our son is doing amazing we look forward to being back home as a family and continuing to grow as a couple we know this has been very public.”

Melanie added, “To me, family is like a beautiful glass ball that’s super fragile in our hands and if it’s dropped those pieces cannot be put back together without hard work and growing and learning and dedication and true love and I know how deeply I love Aaron and I will make this right.”
