George Lucas is second only to Walt Disney imo when it comes to film making's influence on American culture. Disney grew into an entertainment empire. Lucas created the single best film franchise in American culture. Every one loves Star Wars.

Another fan tweeted, “Happy Birthday George Lucas! Thank you for this wonderful galaxy that has inspired so many of us!”
Attached to the tweet was a foreword that Lucas had written for prominent Star Wars writer Alan Dean Foster and his 1993 book, “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye.”
Lucas wrote, “After Star Wars was released, it became apparent that my story, however many films it took to tell, was only one of thousands that could be told about the characters who inhabit its galaxy.”
“But these were not stories I was destined to tell,” he continued. “Instead, they would spring from the imagination of other writers, inspired by the glimpse of a galaxy that Star Wars provided.”
“Today, it is an amazing, if unexpected, legacy of Star Wars that so many gifted writers are contributing new stories to the Saga.”
Hopefully, there are still many more stories to tell in a galaxy far, far away!
