The Oscar slap continues to reverberate worldwide, although now, it's cracking the audience up rather than leaving them bewildered and in shock.
Chris Rock, who was slapped by Will Smith at the 2022 Academy Awards, has not only been lauded for keeping a cool head at the time, but he's now also gradually opening up about the incident, letting a few jokes slip in. This is the latest on the slap that shook Hollywood plus a little something about Amber Heard as well.
From Processing It To Joking About It
During the 2022 Academy Awards presentation, Will Smith seemingly took offense to a joke Chris Rock cracked at his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. Rock likened her bald look to GI Jane, and Smith strode on stage and socked him one. Later, back at his seat, he also yelled at Rock, "keep my wife's name out of your motherf*****g mouth."
In the week after the Academy Awards, Chris Rock walked on stage at the first of his Ego World Show at Boston’s Wilbur Theater, to be greeted by the audience with two back-to-back standing ovations, and it moved him to tears. At the time, he said he was still processing what happened, and shut down a few hecklers too, who called out "F*** Will Smith".
Many have denounced Will Smith's action, most of all Wanda Sykes who was co-hosting the Oscars. Sykes claimed she was still traumatized by it all and has said, "I couldn't believe he was still sitting there, like an assh***. Shouldn't you be sitting there with a lawyer or LAPD, motherf*****?"
Recently, he made a reference to the incident after he raced to Dave Chappelle's side, who was attacked onstage during his performance at the "Netflix Is A Joke" festival at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
At the time, Rock quipped, "I thought that was Will Smith!" This elicited plenty of titters from the audience and lightened the atmosphere. Chappelle's attacker was later arrested.
Later, he spoke about the incident on a more serious note, saying, "Everyone's a victim these days ... There are real victims in the world, they deserve to be heard, they deserve our love and compassion. But if everybody claims to be a victim, then no one hears the real victims. ... We say the world is addicted to opioids, no... the world is not addicted to opioids. The number one addiction in the world is attention. One of the easiest ways to get attention is to be infamous, to try to stab Dave Chappelle on stage."

After sending an Instagram apology to Chris Rock and resigning from the Academy, plus getting banned from it for 10 years, Will Smith jetted to India to "meditate".
Rock, meanwhile, is continuing to do what he is best at, comedy.
On Thursday, during a standup set at London's Royal Albert Hall, the 57-year-old comedian touched on the aftereffects of the Will Smith slap. Without going much into detail, Rock said, "I'm okay if anybody was wondering. Got most of my hearing back."
Amidst laughter, he continued to say, "Don't expect me to talk about the bulls---. I'll talk about it at some point … on Netflix."
He also cracked one at the audience's expense, "Your tickets were expensive, but not that expensive."

Rock Really Went After Amber Heard
After touching upon the slap, Rock's main segment was about the new rules of sleeping with people. He said, “Even if we start f****ng, you want that sh** rough, you got to ask for it."
After that, he went for the jugular, or should we say Amber Heard's jugular. While he stressed that it was important to believe all women, he also had a condition.
Said the comedian, "Believe all women… except Amber Heard. What the f*** is she on? She s*** in his bed! She’s fine, but she’s not s****ing fine. … Once you shit in someone’s bed you just guilty of everything. … What the f*** is going on there? And they had a relationship after that. It must be amazing p****… I’ve been with some crazy b****es but goddamnit.”
