Wendy Williams is looking to have a one-on-one discussion with the woman that took over her famous talk show, Sherri Shepherd.
Shepherd stepped in as a permanent guest host for "The Wendy Williams Show" while Williams was away due to health reasons. However, her performance as guest host impressed the network that she was given her own talk show, ultimately booting Williams' show off the air.
The former radio personality has expressed her intention not to tune into her successor's new show, but it seems she wants something different now.
Wendy Williams Won't Watch Sherri Shepherd's Show
Last week during an Instagram Live session with her good friend Fat Joe, Williams expressed a little disdain for Shepherd's upcoming show.
Per The Blast, while speaking about the rotation of guest hosts that happened while she was away, the "Think Like A Man" star explained that she enjoyed it thoroughly. However, she would have preferred another person to take over, not Shepherd.
In her words, "I love everyone hosting it. But, if I only had one person, I wish you [Fat Joe] only did that. Always."
The 57-year-old who has been vocal about making a big return to television revealed that she prefers the combination of Fat Joe and fellow rapper Remy Ma to anyone else.
"And then I come back and whenever I wanna fly away someplace else for a little while, then you do it again. I love you two [Remy Ma], or just her or just you," she continued.
As for whether she would be showing her support for Shepherd's new show that is coming in the fall, it was a resounding no for Williams.
The New Jersey native answered, "I like her, but I won’t be watching her because I know what she’s going to be doing and that’s really not my thing. Anyway, but I love being on my own show and I love that people love to watch it all the time."
Sherri Shepherd Responds To Williams' Remark
Williams's comments sure made rounds and eventually caught Shepherd's attention. In an Instagram Live update of her own, the "Mr. Iglesias" alum expressed concern for Williams' wellbeing.
"I did hear Wendy say she will not watch me on the new show and that's okay. You know, I understand. I’m not mad at Wendy," Shepherd expressed.
She continued, offering sympathy for Williams' health condition, saying "She's [Wendy] going through a lot."
Shepherd concluded her statement, noting, "I would say that everyone should be praying for Wendy right now. I'm truly concerned for her because I don't feel like there's anybody over there protecting her."
As you might know, while Williams is reportedly recovering from her health challenges, she is still knee-deep in financial troubles after her financial institution, Wells Fargo, froze all her assets and demanded guardianship of her money.
The famous television personality has waged a legal war against the bank, but nothing has yielded of it yet. In fact, during her interview with Fat Joe, she confessed to having just $2 to her name.
"I know what kind of money I have,” Williams said about her finances. “Unfortunately, I only have two dollars and nothing else. Everything is frozen and some people are involved with this and so that’s what I’m doing right now."
A Possible Sit-down Between The Talk Show Hosts
Following the back-and-forth between the two hosts, Williams has made a new request and it's a shocking one. In a statement to ET Online, the former radio DJ said she wants to meet with Shepherd.
"I would love the chance to actually speak with Sherri and sit down and meet," Williams said in a statement while assuring fans that she has "tons of support" and is working on several projects.
Her attorney, LaShawn Thomas, reiterated Williams' request, saying her sit-down with Shepherd is vital to her return to television.
"Wendy requesting to have a sit down with Sherri to have a meeting of the minds is the perfect solution as she has no ill will or intent. Wendy is preparing to get her show back in motion," Thomas explained.
