Although Chris Sullivan just wrapped up his time on "This Is Us," the actor is set to start a new and even better journey with his family. The couple welcomed their first child Bear Maxwell in July 2020 and announced the news to the public a month later.
The duo posted a video on Instagram which had their 21-month-old as the star actor. Bear was seen passing a folded piece of paper between parents until Chris revealed that it was a sonogram of the new addition to the fans.

Bear then runs over to his father, who unraveled it and revealed the sonogram, which he gave to him to look at. Meanwhile, he was clad in a t-shirt with a crossed-out "only child" and had "big brother" written underneath. The rest of the video revealed that the couple would soon welcome a baby girl on "Nov. 1…ish."
The post's caption read, "We have wrapped my final scenes for #thisusus. What an incredible 6 years these have been. With every end, there is a new beginning… so here is a trailer of what's to come." The actor's co-stars from "This Is Us" trooped to the comment section to congratulate him.
Chris And Rachel Announced Bear's Birth On Instagram
Chris and Rachel announced the news when they were pregnant with Bear in pretty much the same way. In 2020, the duo posted a picture of a sonogram on Instagram. They also included several other phallic-shaped images for fans to guess the correct gender of the baby.
The actor captioned the post, "WE'RE HAVING OUT FIRST BABY! And we just found out the sex. Swipe through for the gender reveal!" After Bear's birth in July 2020, the couple announced the news in an August post.

Chris posted a picture of the baby's feet along with a caption that read, "HE HAS ARRIVED! 8lbs of beautiful baby boy. Witnessing @therealrachelsullivan bring our first son into this world after 20 hours of labor was one of the great honors of my life."
Rachel also announced the new addition on her Instagram page. Her caption read, "It's TRUE!!! You heard it from @sullivangrams we are having a BOY!!" she wrote. "So excited!! Nursery is in the works, names are being workshopped, doulas are being interviewed, naps are my go-to self-care bc I'm just so, so much to do and yet so much not to do, just enjoying the moment...life is good!"
Chris Said Having His Son Taught Him 'Lessons'
The couple welcomed their first son in 2020 but held off the announcement and photo sharing till a month after Bear was born. Via People, the actor revealed that the arrival of his son gave him lessons on how and where he exhibited "selfish tendencies."
He said, "Instantaneously, Bear's existence has taught me lessons about surrendering to the current moment and shown me where in my life I have selfish tendencies and self-centered tendencies. Bear constantly brings me back to the current moment, which is … perfect in every way. And I think that's a good reminder."
According to the 40-year-old, another exciting aspect was thinking of his son being able to do adult things like "drive a car." Chris recalled, "Yesterday, we were lying in bed, taking one of our many naps, and Rachel said, 'Our child is asleep in the next room.' That's an exciting idea. It's going to be fun getting to know him."
