On Wednesday night, Shaggy was unmasked as the performer behind the Space Bunny on “The Masked Singer.”

For his final performance, Shaggy sang “Now That We Found Love” by Heavy D and the Boyz featuring Aaron Hall. Although some panelists were able to correctly identify the masked singer, the other judges were way off.

Two Judges Correctly Guessed Shaggy On ‘The Masked Singer’

Both Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger correctly guessed that Shaggy was behind the Space Bunny. Jenny McCarthy guessed Sean Kingston and Ken Jeong guessed Owen Wilson.

The shaggy dog in the clue package was a hint to his name. The crown was actually a clue not to his name, Kingston, but the name of his hometown, Kingston, Jamaica. The burning basketball was a clue to his album “Hot Shot.”

After he was unmasked by host Nick Cannon, Shaggy yelled, “What took y’all so long? Ken, I was just on your show!”

He admitted that he had to alter his voice for the show, saying, “I can’t use my original singing voice, walking around like, ‘Mr. Boombastic.’ One of the things about being a performer is it’s really about your facial expressions. The look. With the suit and the hat you really can’t do that, so I was wiggling my butt. I was like, ‘Yo! What’s up?!’”

After his unmasking, Shaggy sat down with TV Insider to talk about why he decided to perform on “The Masked Singer.”

Shaggy Was Offered To Be On ‘The Masked Singer’ Twice

When asked why he decided to perform on “The Masked Singer,” Shaggy replied, “I didn’t in the first place. I was offered it before, I think twice, and I was like, ‘Not into it. I love the show, enjoy it, but I’m not going to be running up and down in suits and all of that.”

“And I spoke to Ne-Yo, who had done the one in the U.K. and I was offered the U.K. one, too, but then I got offered the U.S. one and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m friends with [host] Nick [Cannon]. I’ll go ahead.’ So we went ahead and got into it,” she explained.

He said that the show gave him “a couple [of] options” for potential costumes.

“We all decided Space Bunny was cute,” he said. “The eyes moved, I really liked that. The ears pop up. [It had] those wow factors, as you can see in the show. I liked that.”

“What I didn’t know was the size of it,” he added. “On paper, it looked like this cute little thing, but when I got to the studio and I saw the size of it, I was like, oh my God, this thing is huge, and then I didn’t know it weighed that much, too.”

“It’s not super, super heavy, but heavy when you’re running around in it all day, with [low] ventilation, so you’re sweating inside,” he added. “You got this harness that is pressing on your chest. It really makes it difficult to sing in. You have an earpiece mic. Breathing and all that becomes very, very difficult in doing these songs.”

When talking about the giant Space Bunny head, he said, “This thing was not light. It was hot. We had to keep these little hand fans blowing inside of it just to keep me from dripping all over the floor.”

When asked what he would take away from the experience, he said, “It was a lot of fun. It’s a very entertaining show. With the exception of running around with this really hot, uncomfortable suit, I thought it was a blast.”
