It seems that Amber Heard may barely be in the sequel to “Aquaman.”

Heard is currently involved in a headline-making legal battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. After she wrote a 2018 op-ed declaring herself as a victim of domestic violence, Depp allegedly lost his role in the sixth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. He is suing Heard for $50M for loss of income; Heard is countersuing for $100M.

However, the court of public opinion has not been going in Heard’s favor, and many fans want her out of the “Aquaman” sequel.

Amber Heard Is Losing Out On ‘Aquaman 2’

According to film journalist Grace Randolph, Heard has “less than 10 minutes of screen time” in the “Aquaman” sequel.

In 2021, film producer Peter Safran made it clear that Heard was going to reprise her role as Mera, despite fan backlash. At the time, Safran told Deadline, “I don’t think that we’re ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure. You gotta do what you feel is best for the movie. We felt that if it’s [director] James Wan and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That’s really what it was.”

“Listen, one is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitterverse, but that doesn’t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes,” Safran continued. “You have to do what you feel is right for the film, and that’s really where we landed on it.”

Although the film was supposed to come out this December, it was pushed back to March 2023. However, it’s doubtful that the bad press will go away by then, even if the verdict goes in her favor. On Sunday, the New York Post reported that Heard had fired her P.R. team and hired a new one. One source told the outlet that “she doesn’t like bad headlines” and that she was “frustrated with her story not being told effectively.”

Heard is expected to take the stand herself sometime this week.

Petition To Remove Amber Heard From 'Aquaman 2' Gains Over 3 Million Signatures

A Change.org petition titled  “Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2” has now reached over 3 million signatures.

The user that started the petition said that “Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached. He will bear the scar from that for the rest of his life.”

“Also, Amber Heard was arrested in 2009 for abusing a former domestic partner, Tasya Van Ree, demonstrating a repeated pattern of abuse by Amber Heard,” they added.

“Since Heard's divorce from Johnny Depp, she has systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood, repeating multiple accounts of fake incidents in which she had actually abused Johnny Depp, but lied and created false accounts of him being the abuser,” they alleged. “About the incident during which she shattered the bones in Johnny Depp's finger and nearly severed it, causing Depp to require surgery to reattach and repair it, Heard presented a false story claiming that he cut off his finger himself, dipped it in paint and scrawled obscenities all over the walls.”

During the trial, it seems that Depp had admitted to writing some things on walls and mirrors in blood and paint himself, but insists that it was not him who drew a p---- on a priceless piece of artwork.

“As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project,” the user goes on. “They must not ignore the suffering of Heard's victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser.”

“Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women,” they pointed out. “This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.”

“Do the right thing,” they concluded. “Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.”

Although it might be too late to film her from the film entirely, it looks like her role has been reduced to “less than 10 minutes” if the rumors are true.
