Sophie Turner Says Motherhood Gave Her A 'Different Perspective' On Acting

Actress Sophie Turner says that she’s a better actor now that she’s a mother.

The 26-year-old English actress is best known for her role as Sansa Stark in the popular HBO series “Game of Thrones.” The role earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019. She’s also well-known for her role in the “X-Men” franchise.

In 2019, she tied the knot with husband Joe Jonas and the two welcomed a daughter named Willa, who was born on July 22, 2020. With another baby on the way, Turner knows a thing or two about motherhood and how it influences her acting career.

Recently, the “Time Freak” actress appeared on The Wrap’s “Unwrapped” podcast to talk about how her new role as a mother has helped her connect with characters in a different way than she had in the past. She explained that she had a “different perspective” when taking on different roles.

“The concept of family has made me an entirely much more emotional person,” she said. “The empathy is heightened; the feelings about family are just like overflowing. It’s made me a better actor for becoming, you know, becoming a mother.”

She continued, “As an actor, the only way to become a really brilliant actor is to experience as much life as possible and to bring those experiences in, and so this is just another little part of life that I'm experiencing that I get to bring in and hopefully it helps my performance one way or another.”

On May 5, she will return to HBO with her new series “The Staircase.”

InTouch Weekly broke the news that Sophie is “proud of her bump.” However, they added that the “Dark Phoenix” actress is a “private person and won’t make an official announcement about the pregnancy until she’s ready.”

Although it is not clear exactly how far along she is, the source added that “she is almost halfway through.” The source added that Sophie and Joe are “absolutely ecstatic and can’t wait for Willia to have a sibling.”

According to another insider, “picking a name, which they aren’t sharing with anyone until the baby arrives, is what they’re really excited about.”

Another source told Us Weekly that “Joe and Sophie are already trying to have another baby” after they gave birth to Willa. “They are really excited to expand their family,” the source added. “Having the baby has made them really close and they want to have a large family together.”

The source also revealed that Willa, the name of their first daughter, isn’t a family name and isn’t short for anything. They decided on the name “a while” before she gave birth.

During her first pregnancy, a source told Life & Style that Joe “always treated Sophie like a princess, but more so now than ever before.” In addition to “romantic trips away” and “pampering sessions,” he also took care of grocery shopping and running errands so that Sophie could rest up at home.
