The Canadian actor is coming off the success of his most recent film, Netflix’s “The Adam Project.” The time-traveling adventure was directed by Shawn Levy, who collaborated with Reynolds for 2021 “Free Guy.” Levy has also been tapped to helm “Deadpool 3.”

In addition to his acting, THR noted that Reynolds is also an entrepreneur. The “Buried” actor is also the owner of Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile, Wrexham Football Club, the chief creative officer of MNTN, and a co-founder of Maximum Effort Prods. Fast Company, Wall Street Journal, and AdWeek have all recognized Reynolds as one of the most creative people in the industry.

AC Board Chair Rick Nicita praised Reynolds, calling him a “Renaissance Man 2.0 for our times.” He continued, “He is an actor, a business entrepreneur, a writer, a comedian, a producer and a creative innovator on screen and off. Most important to us, he is a true modern movie star. He has reached the heights of stardom in movies shown on all platforms, in all genres ranging from comedies to dramas to action films or combinations of all three.”

Ryan Reynolds Currently Has Three Movies On Netflix’s Top 10 List

In late March, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Reynolds currently holds the title of having three movies in the Netflix top ten list, the most for any actor. The comedy crime caper “Red Notice” featuring “Black Adam” Dwayne Johnson and “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot currently sits in the number one spot. His other film “6 Underground” is currently in ninth place.

The “Green Lantern” actor had previously tied with actress Sandra Bullock for most Netflix titles on the top 10 list for her movies “Bird Box” and “The Unforgivable.”

“The Adam Project” also gave director Shawn Levy a new title as well: he is now the only director and producer with a show on the most popular English TV list (“Stranger Things”) and a film on the most popular English language film list.

Levy told THR, “I’m not going to be shy. To see both Adam Project and Free Guy connect in such a globally commercial way is really meaningful to Ryan and I. I don’t make niche programming. I make mainstream programming. And to have both Adam Project and Stranger Things in the upper echelon of the most-watching programming on Netflix is a point of pride.”

“The way that it is being rewatched and being kept alive on social media with such sustained energy is a joyous surprise,” Levy added.

It was also a surprise to see Levy tapped as director for “Deadpool 3.” No release date for the long-awaited film has yet to be announced.
