Serena Williams Looking To Expand Her Sport Dossier Into The English Premier League

Serena Williams is one of the 'greatest tennis players of all time,' but she is not ready to stop expanding her athletic dossier.
Presently, the 23-time Grand Slam champion is trying to spread her athletic wings to the English Premier League as she joined forces with a syndicate to purchase one of the top Premier League clubs.
Serena Williams Joins Partnership To Invest In The English Premier League
Williams and seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton have joined former Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton's bid to purchase the Premier League club Chelsea.
An insider revealed to CNN Sport that both athletes were investing as "sports business investors," but there was confirmation of how much either was investing as part of Broughton's association.
The association includes World Athletics head Sebastian Coe, sport teams owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer. It should be noted that Harris and Blitzer also own the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers.
Another source confirmed Coe's commitment to Broughton's bid, while Freud Communications verified Hamilton's involvement in the proposal. Freud Communications is the racer's communications consultancy.
According to the news outlet, Williams' representatives have not confirmed or denied her commitment as they were not available to comment.
The sportswoman already has ties with a mostly women-founded group who owns the Angel City FC in the NWSL, National Women's Soccer League.
Ben Peppi, a sports commercial professional at JMW Solicitors, told the outlet, "It's a move away from what they're investing in traditionally, [by] investing in a club's franchise, especially a club the size of Chelsea."
He added that sportspeople were commonly seen investing in consumer brands or "early-stage businesses" relevant to their careers.
Peppi believed the association's commitment to investing in the English club looked like a traditional investment play but was "clearly a financial return."
He explained that the investors would not be brand ambassadors for the football club in a traditional way as they would with other consumer brands.
The advert expert noted about Hamilton, "With Lewis Hamilton, there's a lot of talk around the fact that he's in there because he's going to promote values close to him with regards to kind of race, inclusion, and diversity."
The outlet further detailed Broughton's bid, pointing out that the proposal was one out of three left in the contest to buy Chelsea FC from its current owner Roman Abramovich.
Earlier in March, Abramovich shared his plans to sell the club, prioritizing the interests of "the fans, the employees, and the club's sponsors and partners."
The news came after he announced his handing over of Chelsea's "stewardship" title to trustees of the club's charitable organization.
Consequently, the European Union added the football club owner to its list of "sanctioned individuals." At the same time, the UK government penalized him as part of the nation's attempt in the Ukraine crisis.
The sanction served as a way to "isolate" Russian President Vladimir Putin after Russia invaded Ukraine.
Abramovich constantly denied being associated with Putin and has rebuffed claims about his activities deserving government sanctions.
The 'S By Serena' Creator Is Ready For Retirement, Plans To Have More Kids
Williams continues to dominate the tennis world and has been noted to have invested in over sixty startups and the corporate industry. Nevertheless, she prepares for retirement as those days draw nearer.
The Blast shared that the talented athlete voiced her thoughts regarding her retirement from sports, saying she was ready and planned on expanding her family.
As you may know, the star tennis player is married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, and they share an adorable daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.
Regarding her retirement, she told ET, "I am prepared for that day. I've been prepared for that day for over a decade… If you've seen 'King Richard,' you know that my dad always said you got to prepare, so I've been prepared for that."
Williams has always had a future plan, plus she has a couple of investments to fall back on, including her S by Serena fashion line, whenever she leaves the sports world.
She further talked about giving her daughter younger siblings, but she had trouble finding the right timing for conception.
The sports champion confessed, "I definitely want to have more kids…And I know the clock is ticking, so I'm just like, OK, I need to figure out when that's going to be, but hopefully soon when I will feel no pressure."
