Actor Misha Collins is walking back comments he made about his bisexuality at a "Supernatural" fan convention over the weekend.
Costar Jared Padalecki made headlines when Jensen Ackles revealed that he had been in a car accident and was "lucky to be alive," and the actor behind the angel Castiel made headlines of his own when he apparently came out as bisexual.
However, on Monday night, Collins took to Twitter to apologize for the misunderstanding and disclose that he was actually straight.
Misha Collins Apologizes For Bisexuality Remark At A 'Supernatural' Fan Convention
I want to deeply apologize for misspeaking this weekend. At a fan convention in New Jersey, when I was talking with the audience I said that I was “all three” things: an introvert, an extrovert and a bisexual. 1/5 🧵

On Monday night, Misha Collins apologized for his recent remarks, tweeting, "I want to deeply apologize for misspeaking this weekend. At a fan convention in New Jersey, when I was talking with the audience I said that I was 'all three' things: an introvert, an extrovert, and a bisexual."
"My clumsy intention was to wave off actually discussing my sexuality, but I badly fumbled that and understand that was seen as me coming out as bisexual," he explained. "This was not my intention so I need to correct the record: I am not bisexual. I happen to be straight, but I am also a fierce ally and the last thing I want to do is falsely co-opt the struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community."
"I believe and fully support that we need to sanctify the human right to express our identities honestly and to be free to love whomever we choose openly," he continued. "I am deeply sorry for the clumsiness of my language. I want to be a better ally and I feel sick to my stomach that I might have done anything to make things worse. I’m trying to learn, trying to do better and I will keep listening. Thanks and I’m sorry, Misha."
Fans seemed to have mixed feelings about the apology, with some fans accepting it and others encouraging Misha Collins to "do better."
Fans Have Mixed Feelings Over Misha's 'Bisexuality' Comment
…feel more comfortable with their own identities.
It’s absolutely the kind of thing anyone might say whilst messing around & your apology is heartfelt & right. I wouldn’t & won’t hold it against you but I hope you understand some of the reactionary messages. ♥️🏳️🌈✌️

"Not angry but I understand why people would be upset. You effectively joked abt being bi which makes it seem like ones sexual identity isn’t a difficult thing a lot of people to struggle with," one user explained. "There’s a stigma around bisexual men as well so ‘coming out’ made a lot of people …feel more comfortable with their own identities. It’s absolutely the kind of thing anyone might say whilst messing around & your apology is heartfelt & right. I wouldn’t & won’t hold it against you but I hope you understand some of the reactionary messages. ♥️🏳️🌈✌️"
BUT, that doesn't change the fact that you did say it.
I'm glad you've apologized. I personally accept this apology, but other fans who are queer may not.
I think the thing that is getting to me is that queerness seems like the butt of the joke in all this. +

Another fan posted a long Twitter response to Misha's apology. They began by saying, "I have a feeling some ppl might be mad at me for saying this, but as a vocal fan, I feel like it would be disingenuous for me to not speak my mind now. I want to say that this whole situation got 100% blown out of proportion. from clickbait articles to social media s---posts."

Well, that will teach some of us to no build pedestals for "idols" or whatever. They always disappoint. I'll always love Cas but yeah, can't say I'll extend that to the actor.

It remains to be seen if Collins will be able to win some fans back when he appears as Harvey Dent in "Gotham Knights."
