‘Supernatural’ actor Misha Collins is joining the DC universe.
Collins made a splash with audiences as the angel Castiel on the long-running “Supernatural” series that first premiered in 2005, although Castiel didn’t join the Winchester on their adventures until season 4.
On Wednesday morning, Collins took to Twitter to announce that he will be returning to The CW as Harvey Dent on the upcoming “Gotham Knights” series, where he will play Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent.
The Big Question: Will Misha Collins Wear A Trench Coat On ‘Gotham Knights’?
I’ve asked if my version of the character could be wearing a beige trench coat over the grey suit. (I’m just not sure I’ll be comfortable in front of a camera without one.) #newTVgig #GothamKnights pic.twitter.com/a5F1EFnjzX

On Wednesday morning, Collins revealed that he’s hoping that Harvey Dent will have an opportunity to wear a trench coat in his adaption.
He tweeted: “I’ve asked if my version of the character could be wearing a beige trench coat over the grey suit. (I’m just not sure I’ll be comfortable in front of a camera without one.) #newTVgig #GothamKnights”
However, fans weren’t sure how to feel about his new casting.
“My least fav character. I’m so sad you will be portraying a character made evil because he acquired a facial difference. As a kid one of the taunts used against me was calling me this,” one fan shared. “The fact that there is lore that he became ‘good’ again after he was ‘fixed’ but succumbed to evil again after suffering an attack that in did the ‘fix’ is disgusting. Continued perpetuation of this trope / cliche is so harmful and damaging.”
“Actually the original Harvey dent had multiple personality disorder as a child but he was able to control it,” another fan pointed out. “When he became disfigured the other personality found a way to resurface, thus two face was born. He didn’t turn evil. He had the evil in him.”
“That’s not better, dissociative identity disorder also shouldn’t be used to be a mark of ‘evil,’” they continued. “Another trope that is misused and adds to the stigma for those who deal with this disorder. The fact that acquiring the facial difference is what brings that to the surface confirms my point. He was able to live a productive life only until he acquired the facial difference.”
Other Fans Congratulated Misha Collins On His New Gig!
Although some fans were disappointed, others fans were excited to see Castiel appearing in DC and wanted to get other “Supernatural” stars involved, especially when Jensen Ackles had voiced Batman in the past.
“Imagine you in this role and #jensenackles on the role of #batman,” one fan wrote. “It will be so great. We need to find a role for #jaredpadalecki like #gordon.”
“I don’t know anything about DC always been a Marvel girl but the comments say this character is a bad guy,” another wrote. “Can’t wait to see a different side of your acting.”
“Hmm considering this character …you might need only half of the beige trench coat,” another joked.
“D— you, I’m going to have to get into DC now,” another commented. “I know nothing about it so far but I’m so excited nevertheless!!”
“I think it’s only fair to compromise so how about a beige suit and blue tie??” another asked. “Congratulations on your new gig. I cannot wait!”
Some Fans Are Looking Forward To Seeing Misha Play Harvey Dent… Without The Trench Coat!
“Misha as Harvey Dent… Yes Please!” another shared. “This is an amazing role for him! And I concur on the beige suit just no more trench coat it needs to be benched lol!”
Other fans echoed the call to “ditch the trench coat. Wear a three-piece suit. The fangirls have waited a long time for this!!” another joked.
“TWO FACE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS!” another shared. “so glad you are taking this gig. (I was holding out for Gordon but I’ll accept this devastatingly villainous son of a gun).”
“MISHA. Whatever you do. Do not go into filming the pilot with your deep Cas voice,” another advised. “You will regret it.”
“Jokes aside, I’m excited for you!” another shared. “This is so cool. Congrats on bagging such a rad gig @mishacollins.”
No release date for “Gotham Knights” has yet to be announced.
