At the early age of 19, Jessica Simpson had already released multiple best-selling singles. By age 34, she had built a billion-dollar fashion brand, the Jessica Simpson Collection, sold at fashion stores like Macy's, Dillard's, and Lord & Taylor.

Aside from being a well-known vocalist and business entrepreneur, she also dabbled in reality TV, where she featured in TV shows including "NewlyWeds," "Fashion Star," "Jessica Simpson: The Price Of Beauty," amongst others.

'I'm On A Budget'

"I have no working credit card," Simpson said. "It's OK. I will pay in cash. I went to Taco Bell the other day, and my card got denied. I'm on a budget, ladies!"

She also added that one of the things draining her of financial resources was her growing multi-dollar fashion brand, the Jessica Simpson Collection, which she regained control over in October. Simpson even considered borrowing money against the equity of her house for her business.

"With money, there's just so much fear attached to it," Simpson explained. "I'm the person that you get mad at at the blackjack table. I'll put it all out there if it's me that's driving the show because I believe in myself and I know what I can do. And I know that nothing will stop me, and if you try to stop me, I'll try harder."

About 'The Jessica Simpson' Collection

The multi-hyphenate has since revealed plans to expand her collection from not only a fashion brand but to a health and wellness brand. She also intends to feature men's clothing and would like her husband to model for it. "My husband's a good model for it, but he would never do it. Maybe I could convince him."

She mentioned that she's always wanted to go into men's clothing because she knew how a "guy's butt" should look in their jeans.

Simpson also added that she loved that she was in control of her company, citing that "she doesn't answer to anybody."

However, she admitted that although she still works with her mom, she is still her boss. "But we have a really healthy working relationship when it comes to that," she added.

She concluded by saying that they both listen to each other's opinions and respect their ideas.

"I can actually put my name on things, and you can know and trust that it is from me and I believe in it. And you're only going to get that [from me] for the rest of my life."

Her Memoir Has Become A Bestseller

In 2020, the reality star released a memoir, "Open Book." Simpson got honest about her experiences, failures, successes, and achievements in this book.

While she celebrated the first anniversary of her memoir in 2021, she also took to her Instagram to explain why she wrote the book.

"My purpose in writing the book was to try and help anyone who might be feeling stuck or know there is something more for them, but needs that extra push."

Although this may have been the original intent, the book turned into a bestseller due to the sale of many copies. This also added to the fortune she had amassed.

The actress reacted to the milestone by posting an image of herself with her two kids and adding, "I must confess that I am completely shocked by this overwhelming honor. I have realized that my greatest expectations weren't even great enough until now."
