Simone Biles Assures That Nuptials To Fiancé Jonathan Owens Will Happen In 2023

Simone Biles dished on all the juicy details surrounding her upcoming wedding to her longtime sweetheart and fellow athlete Jonathan Owens.

Biles got engaged to Owens earlier this year and is taking her time to plan her journey down the aisle.

In a recent interview, the tied most decorated gymnast of all time gushed about her dream wedding, which she confirmed will take place next year.

Biles opened up about her plans for her big day in a recent sit-down with PEOPLE about the launch of her limited-edition activewear collection for kids in partnership with Athena Girl.

The seven-time Olympic gold medalist said that her wedding planning is progressing pretty well, but she recently faced some difficulty finding a location.

Biles said, "I feel like I've only become stressed out within the last week, trying to choose a venue and stuff like that, because there are so many great places to get married, and I feel like that's a really big decision."

The location debacle of the Houston Texans safety's fiancée has not dimmed her desire to bring her wedding vision to life. She revealed the ceremony is "definitely going to be next year."

The bride-to-be is ticking items off her to-do list successfully, including her outfits for the occasion. She shared that she had already picked her dresses, but they would take a while to be produced.

Biles explained that selecting two wedding pieces from renowned designer Galia Lahav was the easiest part of planning. Much harder for the star, and her beau is streamlining their invite list. 

The famous personality said, "Both of us know so many people, but we want to keep it intimate and private with our closest family and friends. So, I think the guest list has been the hardest."

The publication noted that Biles did not reveal where she and her fiancé plan to exchange vows, but she confirmed to fans in an Instagram Q&A session that she wants a destination ceremony. She explained:

"It's just something that I've always wanted to do, and he was definitely on board with that. So, we are very excited because we want it to be on the beach and maybe half inside, half outside."

The lovebirds went public with their romance with a series of images on social media in August 2020, preceding their engagement two years later. 

Biles told the outlet that she was "very surprised" by the proposal, which took place in February. She added that her lover is good at keeping secrets, so she had no idea what was happening.

The Olympic icon recounted that she and Owens visited a restaurant on Valentine's day. She met a photographer there and knew that her man had hired him.

The photographer coyly told Biles that couples dining that evening got a free photo, but she began suspecting a possible proposal as they headed to a gazebo outside. She recounted:

"I started shaking really bad because then I was like, 'Wait, hold up. What if he proposes?' But I didn't want to get my hopes up ... and then he did it. And I was just like, I kind of had a feeling, but I wasn't sure."

Biles shocked the world with the pleasant news of her engagement to Owens and shared heartwarming images from the memorable night.

The Blast disclosed that the world-class gymnast broke the news on Instagram with a carousel of shots showing Owens proposing in a gazebo in Houston, Texas.

Biles sported wavy curls in a stunning ruched black leather dress and YSL heels, while her beau wore a jaw-dropping grey suit over a black turtleneck.

In the pictures, Owens got down on one knee to pop the big question. The couple looked so in love as they stared into each other’s eyes with the widest smiles.

The ecstatic fiancée also posted a video showing off her oval-cut diamond ring with an encrusted band. She wrote in her captions:

"THE EASIEST YES…I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ [engagement ring emoji] @jowens_3."

Ownes also expressed his love for Biles and excitement for their impending nuptials in the comments section, writing, "Ready for forever with you [red hearts emoji]."
