Elon Musk's Eyebrow-Raising Tweet Prompts Free Speech Debate

On Friday night, Musk posted a tweet that seemed to imply that thinking about a pregnant Bill Gates would kill someone's boner.

Although it's not clear why, exactly, Musk shared the post, it's possible he was testing to see whether or not Twitter would find a reason to remove the tweet. Musk has been vocal about buying the social media site, and it's possible that he was looking to garner some support in his corner if Twitter had removed the tweet.

It seems even more likely that this was the SpaceX founder's intention in his follow-up post, saying, "shadow ban council reviewing tweet..."

Even though the tweet is still up and it doesn't look like Twitter has any plans to remove it, it still sparked a debate on free speech nonetheless.

"No, he did not," another user chimed in. "And he simply bought DOS from another company, they did make it better, but he certainly didn’t write the code for it, then he changed it from DOS to MS-DOS. And just on a second note here, computers were invented in the 40’s before Bill Gates was born!"

They added, "And just as an aside, Musk and Gates are the same. Their fathers helped them every single step of the way. These two are not different than Trump, in that, everything they’ve ever done is because their fathers helped them!"

Other Call Elon Musk's Tweet A 'Really Bad Look'

Adam Hollander commented, "This is such an unfortunate tweet by someone I otherwise have tremendous respect for. Many will now think it’s OK to publicly bully those around them. If the richest man in the world does it, it must be OK, right? Bill Gates can handle it. Others not so much. Really bad look."

"Well said. I freakin love Elon but totally agree with you @HollanderAdam," another user commented. "Weird memes are all good but this crosses a line and sets a bad example." Another user disagreed, commenting, "You don't think freedom of speech is okay?"

"Exactly this," another user chimed in. "It's always been accepted that bullying is a no, in any form. Now, the world just took a dark turn because millions will use this as justification for their actions. Clearly Elon lacks the emotional intelligence to understand that there's some lines you don't cross."
