Nicolas Cage has made a big revelation! He recently shared his unborn child’s sex and the beautiful name he and his current spouse Riko Shibata chose for their baby.
As you may know, Cage has been in several relationships and got hitched five times. He also has two sons, 31-year-old Weston from ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton and 16-year-old Kal-El from his third wife, Alice Kim.
While promoting his latest movie, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” he announced the joyful news and said a bit about the expected infant.
Nicolas Cage Says He Is Thrilled About Being A Girl Dad
As the award-winning actor sat down with the show’s host Kelly Clarkson, he updated the world on his wife’s pregnancy while detailing the touching inspiration behind the baby’s name.
Cage initially talked about his brother, a disc jockey who built his own radio station and played “incredible albums from the late ’60s.”
“And of course, he played the Lennon B album, and he played ‘Across the Universe.’ And I must have been four years old, and I remember being frozen, paralyzed listening to that music,” Cage continued, then hummed the tune and added, “and I just, it’s my favorite song ever written.”
The statement led him to share the joyful news about his baby. He revealed that he would have a “little girl,” and she would be named Lennon Augie.
Lennon because of his favorite song, “Across the Universe” by the Beatles and written by John Lennon. On the other hand, Augie was after his deceased father, August Coppola, who died in 2009.
The remarkable performing artist added that he would call his daughter “Lenny for short,” and Clarkson gushed about the news, saying she loved it while noting that he would be a girl dad.
“I’m thrilled,” he admitted as he looked forward to the experience. “It’s gonna be the biggest adventure of my life, so here we go.”
Earlier this year, The Blast shared an update on Shibata’s pregnancy, noting that that would be her first child and Cage’s third. The soon-to-be parents were ecstatic about having a baby together.
The couple initially met in Shiga, Japan, and allegedly started dating in 2020 after they were seen on a date in New Orleans. They later married the following year in Las Vegas.
The “City of Angels” star’s previous marital unions were somewhat brief except for his third marriage. His first wife was Patricia Arquette; they were together from 1995 to 2001. His second marriage to Lisa Marie Presley lasted from 2002 t0 2004.
Alice Kim, his third wife, was wedded to him from 2004 to 2016. While he and his fourth spouse Erika Koike married and separated in 2019.
As the news outlet shared, not only did the news of Cage’s third child make headlines, but his declaration to not be called an actor also did.
He believed the label “actor” implied he was “a great liar,” and he did not want to be associated with such a tag. Instead, he preferred to identify as a “thespian.” Cage explained:
“So with the risk of sounding like a pretentious a—hole, I like the word ‘thespian,’ because thespian means you’re going into your heart, or you’re going into your imagination, or your memories or your dreams, and you’re bringing something back to communicate with the audience.”
The “Face Off” Actor Is Older Than His Wife By 31 Years
Cage and Shibata reportedly applied for a wedding license on the expectant mother’s 26th birthday, making her 31 years younger than her husband and four years younger than his son Weston.
According to Hollywood Life, they were spotted holding hands in New York City after their date in New Orleans and weeks before the pandemic locked down the world.
The news outlet recalled the couple’s eventual engagement whereby the SAG Award winner proposed to his fifth wife over FaceTime with a black diamond ring.
On his brother Marc Coppola’s radio show in 2020, he revealed, “Her favorite color is black, so she wanted the black gold and the black diamond. I customized and personalized it, and I actually sent it to her [through] FedEx.”
Last February, Cage wore a Tom Ford tuxedo to his wedding ceremony while his bride donned a Japanese bridal kimono handmade in Kyoto.
The traditional outfit required three layers, according to the 58-year-old’s rep. Nevertheless, Shibata rocked it perfectly and walked down the aisle to her sweetheart while her favorite song Kiroro’s “Winter Song,” played in the background.
