It's been a while since Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson dazzled the world with their love story and starred on the reality show "Newlyweds." The two met in 1999, and their relationship was a high-profile one, leading to them getting married in 2002.
The year after, they premiered their new show, "Newlyweds," on MTV, and it was an instant hit. Three seasons later, in 2005, Simpson and Lachey announced their divorce. They've since had several public spats but are now happily married to other people.
When asked about the old reality show, Simpson said, "I mean, if anything. it was great TV." She also made it very clear that she has no regrets about doing the show with Lachey. Read on to find out all she had to say.
Simpson Has No Regrets
During her appearance on the April 18th episode of "The Real," Simpson was asked about her and Lachey's three-season run on Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, the reality show the couple did that showcased their lives as a newly married couple.
Simpson said, "No, I don't regret that at all. I mean, if anything, it was great TV. It was very real, and Nick and I actually had a lot of fun." She also explained that if not for the show, she and Lachey got to do a lot of crazy and fun things they might never have done normally.

Simpson also admitted that she didn't enjoy some of the things they did, such as camping. She said, "There were definitely, like, moments where it was like, 'Put Jessica out here in the wilderness, and you'll get good TV.'" Simpson even revealed that she has no regret in life and said, "I never have. No, I learn from it. There's a lesson in everything."
The Two Stars Have New Families
After their divorce in 2005, Simpson and Lachey went their separate ways and, in 2010, got engaged to different people within days of each other. Simpson now has three kids, Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie, with her husband Eric Johnson, while Lachey also has three kids, Camden, Brooklyn, and Phoenix, with his wife, Vanessa Lachey.
During Simpson's interview, she was asked if she would ever consider getting back into the reality TV business, especially considering how the Lacheys are basically running the Netflix dating show scene with Love is Blind and The Ultimatum.
The "Dukes of Hazzard" actress said, "Oof, no. Well, I mean, reality's set up so different now. Ours was actually very real and very, like, authentic. But maybe because it was one of the first. But we had a mic pack on from when we woke up to when we went to sleep. Nowadays, like, they have allotted shooting days and that type of thing, and it would make it a lot easier."
She Spoke About Reality TV Life
Even if Simpson doesn't have any interest in getting back into reality show life, the "If You Were Mine" singer shared that she has some insight into that life. She said her knowledge comes from her daughter Maxwell's friendship with North West, the daughter of reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
She said, "My daughter is best friends with North. So, I've had to talk to Kim and be like, 'How in the world do you guys do it?' She is unbelievable. She's a beast. She's an incredible mother. She's really open, and you know she just is awesome. And North and Max together are great."
Asides from talking about her relationship with Lachey, her lack of regrets about their reality show, and whether she would ever return to reality TV, Simpson also spoke about her weight loss journey and how proud she is of herself for her accomplishments.
Simpson Has Been Open About Her Weightloss Journey
Simpson's weight loss journey is one that she is very open about during interviews and on her social media. On April 7th, she posted a photo of herself on vacation with her family on her Instagram and noted in the caption that she had "gained and lost 100lbs 3x."

During the interview on "The Real," the "A Public Affair" singer also shared that she believes in "setting small goals for yourself" and that realizing how much she had lost meant a lot to her. She said, "Being in a bikini was never the main goal. I mean, I did that in my 20s. And I literally brought bathing suits on that trip without trying on a bikini because I thought I was just going to be in a one-piece."
"So when I put that two-piece on, I got super emotional," she continued, "And I was like, 'I did this. It happened.' It was just, like, in the moment, and I wanted to share it with everyone because I was very proud of myself for doing what at times felt completely impossible."
