Emmy-award-winning actor Ewan McGregor plans to marry Mary Elizabeth Winstead… this Friday!
A source told Page Six that the “Halston” actor plans to marry his “Fargo” costar before the week is out. The two have been dating since 2017 after meeting on the set of the FX TV series in late 2016. On June 27, 2021 – less than one year ago – the couple welcomed their first son together.
Ewan McGregor Plans To Wed Mary Elizabeth Winstead On Friday
McGregor, 51, plans to marry Winstead, 37, in Los Angeles on Friday. A source told the outlet that the couple is “more in love than ever… and having their first child together last year just strengthened their bond.”
Only a month after season 3 of “Fargo” was released in April 2017, Winstead announced that she was divorcing her husband of seven years, Riley Stearns. A few months later, in October 2017, the “Star Wars” actor and Winstead were seen getting close in London.
In 2018, McGregor had separated from his then-wife, Eve Mavrakis, and filed for divorce. McGregor first met Mavrakis, a French-Greek production designer, on the set of “Kavanagh QC” in 1995. They share four daughters: Clara, 24, Jamyan, 19, Esther, 18, and Anouk, 9.
The couple wed that same year, but their divorce was not finalized until 2020. In court documents obtained by The Blast, things got heated between Winstead and McGregor’s eldest daughter, Clara McGregor.
Ewan McGregor’s Daughter Called Mary Elizabeth Winstead A ‘Piece Of Trash’
Apparently, the divorce did not come to a smooth conclusion. Ewan’s daughter Clara left a nasty comment on a photo of Mary Elizabeth Winstead from the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar party that was posted to an Instagram fan account.
Clara quoted the bio of the account, writing, “Most beautiful and talented woman on earth??? Oh man y’all are delusional. The girl is a piece of trash :) x.”
A user clapped back Clara, “Say it to her face not in social media. It took TWO to undo this marriage. If a man OR woman is happy w/ their marriage no outside interference can destroy that!”
“Yup it took two!!” Clara replied. “Mary & my father :).”
In a later interview with UK’s The Times, Clara admitted that the comment wasn’t “the most mature way” she could have responded to the situation.
“It wasn’t the most mature way to go about things, but I was angry and upset,” Clara said at the time. “There had been a lot building up to it and a lot to deal with — not to make excuses or anything — but, yeah, it wasn’t my finest moment.”
She added that, at the time, she “kept being tagged in this photograph and I was seeing negative things about my mom. I said how I felt and I didn’t want to apologize for it. It wasn’t the right way to go about things, but it’s a hard thing to wrap your head around when you feel you had this idea of what the family unit is and then to have that shift. It’s very weird.”
‘Star Wars’ Fans Are Excited For The Pair To Tie The Knot
“Star Wars” fans recognize Ewan McGregor for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1999’s “The Phantom Menace,” which kicked off the controversial “Star Wars” prequel trilogy. He reprised his role in 2002’s “Attack of the Clones” and 2005’s “Revenge of the Sith.”
McGregor will be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Disney+ “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, which is set to debut on the streaming service on May 27, 2022. The series was originally scheduled for release on May 25, two days earlier, to coincide with the release of “A New Hope” on May 25, 1977 – exactly 45 years to the day that the late Sir Alec Guinness first stepped into the role. However, to coincide with the annual fan event Star Wars Celebration – being held in Anaheim, California this year – the show was pushed back two days and will release two episodes of the six-episode limited series.

In January of this year, The Blast reported that Mary Elizabeth Winstead had been cast in an undisclosed role in the “Ahsoka” series, which is currently scheduled for a 2023 release. Filming is expected to start in Los Angeles later this month.
