Jamie Dornan Talks Playing Bond And How 'Prejudgment Is A Disease'

Think Jamie Dornan and the first thought that comes to mind is a spanking. While the man has played a crazed serial killer in "The Fall" and we also increasingly hear him sing, the first thought that comes to mind when you think Dornan is kinky, thanks to him playing Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades" franchise.
But now, there are talks of him playing Bond and while Dornan feels honored to be in the race, he's also angry about prejudgment and Robert Pattinson.
First Off, Jamie Dornan Can Really Sing
In recent times, Netflix hosted a rather unusual, if the delightful movie "Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar" where we not only see Dornan singing but also pirouetting, bare-chested, on a beach. But then again, Dornan burst into the scene by singing, as a member of Sons of Jim—a folk band that could have made it big till Dornan pulled the plug on it.
Dornan and his friend were doing it for fun and the band became way too popular for them to be able to handle it so Dornan killed it.
As per his interview with Esquire magazine, Dornan has no regrets, as he said, "You don't have a clue if you're looking left or right at that age. We were getting that traction and maybe something was going to happen, and I pulled the string. I've never regretted it. I'm still best mates with my friend that I was in it with.”

He sang “Maybe I’m Amazed” in "Fifty Shades Freed" as well, and said the singing was unintentional and that he has no idea how or why it ended up as it did.
We are just glad got to see him sing, and dance bare-chested.
Bucking Off The BDSM Spectre For The Bond Persona?
After playing Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades" franchise, Dornan was typecast a little, just like the guys who burst into the scene with him, Andrew Garfield as Spiderman and Robert Pattinson as the vampire.
Is he ashamed of the part? Not really, but he is looking to evolve as an actor. That said; Dornan has no regrets about playing Grey as he said, "Are there jobs that I did that I wish maybe I hadn't done? Maybe, yeah, but probably not the one people are thinking of. There's going to be defining moments, and there's going to be... not regretful moments… It's just the tapestry of it all, isn't it?"

Will Dornan then ever consider doing another franchise? His name is being floated around as the next and Dornan was very interested at one point considering his grandfather played a Bond villain.
But Dornan is hard to pin down and does not give a straight answer. Instead, he says, "It's fun and it's a cool thing to be in the mix for that sort of thing. I do think it's very transparent in terms of if you look at that list, there's not one person on that list who doesn't have some content at the moment that's doing well."
The "Belfast" actor could certainly do justice to the role that has been played by the likes of Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.
Jamie Dornan Has A Problem With Prejudgment
Dornan definitely does not like the way people prejudge things, without even watching the movie or the series.
Said he, without mincing his words, "Prejudgment is such a f---ing disease. It's a disease in all our cultures. In my line of work, sure. But in general, people prejudge people based on f---ing anything really, and it's very sad. Look at the reaction when Rob got cast as Batman. It was like 90 percent negative. Daniel Craig got cast as James Bond—I mean that was 100 percent negative. It was vile what was written. It was actually disturbing when you see the f---ing venomous anger that people have over casting decisions. And then guess what? Daniel Craig is f---ing brilliant, and it changes the whole energy of Bond. All the naysayers love what Rob has done with Batman.”
Meanwhile his friend and family have got a pool going, on whether Dornan will truly land the role of James Bond or not. Says Dornan "I think there had been a short recently as eight to one or whatever, like people putting an actual bet on. It's just so silly really.”
