Love continues to be a difficult trial for Hollywood stars as Wong's rep revealed the stand-up personality had severed ties with her husband.
"It's amicable and they will continue to co-parent lovingly," a second source told the news outlet about the former couple's divorce.
The comedian and the entrepreneur appeared to be a match made in fairytale heaven, falling heads over heels for each other not long after meeting at a friend's wedding reception in 2010.
Four years later, the pair tied the knot in an intimate ceremony held in San Francisco on November 27, 2014. Eventually, their matrimonial home received more blessings in the form of two daughters, Mari and Nikki.
The estranged spouses were a fan-favorite couple, especially for Wong's various jokes at her husband's expense in her comedy shows.
However, it can not be assumed that the "Baby Cobra" author's gags suggested there was trouble in her paradise. In the 39-year-old's most recent marital quips, she joked about cheating on Hakuta.
During the "Ali Wong: Don Wong" comedy special, the mother-of-two made numerous cracks about her marriage, expressing her envy of single people.
The California native said she "too, was once free," however, "like an idiot, I asked this dude to ask me to go to prison. And now I'm in monogamy jail and I don't know how to get out."
The "Always Be My Maybe" star's special was filled with many infidelity jokes as Wong confessed that "every five minutes," she thought about cheating on her husband.
The actress explained that she had not embraced these temptations "because no worthy opportunity has presented itself," but she also did not wish to go through a divorce.
According to the "American Housewife" star, she needed Hakuta more than her husband desired her, claiming to have pressured him into marrying her.
As for why she pushed her then-boyfriend for a ring, the "Big Mouth" voice actress joked that she "trapped" her spouse because she was "uncertain" about her career.
Despite making wisecracks about her love for the entrepreneur, Wong sang her spouse's praises towards the end of her Netflix special.
The 39-year-old took pride in Hakuta's intelligence, boasting about how her now-estranged husband studied at Carnegie Mellon, Harvard Business School, and even became a Fulbright scholar.
Given his remarkable degrees, the "Dear Girls" author joked about her ex's poor romantic choices. "He was smart enough to choose me, to invest in me," she said, "He bought low."
The "Dealin' with Idiots" actress also compared the businessman to Keanu Reeves, claiming to like men that looked similar to the "John Wick" actor.
For those wondering how the comedian got away with constantly teasing Hakuta, the "Are You There, Chelsea?" star explained that her husband was too preoccupied to care.
"He's too busy living the life I wanted for myself," she quipped, stating that he happily enjoyed her labor by rocking the Rolex watch Wong gave him and living in the house she paid for.
