It seems that Kanye West is out and about only one day after dropping out of Coachella.
On Monday, social media was shocked when it was announced that the “Donda” rapper had quietly stepped down from performing at the Coachella music festival, which he was supposed to headline. The Yeezy designer has been quiet on social media ever since his 24-hour Instagram ban due to his bullying comments, which saw him booted from the Grammys last Sunday.
Instead, The Weeknd will be replacing West as the headliner. “Happier Than Ever” singer Billie Eilish is also scheduled to perform, along with Harry Styles and Swedish House Mafia. Coachella will take place from April 5 to April 24 this year.
Kanye West Seen Visiting A Construction Site After Dropping Out Of Coachella
Page Six reported that Kanye West, 44, visited a construction site in Beverly Hills shortly after he backed out of Coachella. He was spotted wearing a black hoodie, black boots, and dark jeans. He was reportedly glued to his phone before he started talking to two men.
It’s not clear who West was talking to, but it’s reported that Kanye was seeking treatment for his mental health after his split with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. An industry insider told the outlet that Kanye will definitely not be performing and this is not a stunt. “Kanye has definitely pulled out of Coachella,” they said. “He hasn’t been rephrasing or putting on a production.”
They also mentioned that Travis Scott, who was supposed to join him on stage, will also no longer be performing at the music festival. They added, “Travis Scott was supposed to be joining him onstage. Now it would be virtually impossible for him to get it together.”
The source added that, “Kanye is backing out because he wants to stay out of the public eye after all the drama with Kim and Pete. He wants to get help.”
Although some fans are upset that Kanye West won’t take the stage to perform, other fans are actually delighting in the news after a Change.org petition gathered over 50,000 signatures asking Coachella to ban Ye from performing.
Almost 50,000 People Signed A Petition To Remove Kanye West From Coachella!
A user named “Kim Pete” started a Charge.org petition requesting 5,000 signatures. As of April 4, the petition – titled “Remove Kanye From Coachella!” – has gained almost 50,000 signatures.
“We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now. No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well,” the statement begins.
“Most recently, he has been threatening actual bodily harm on others. This is ridiculous that he is allowed to freely do this,” they continue. “Coachella (along with other brand names that are still working with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any more of a platform. Please sign & share!”
It appears that the petition was started by a Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson fan page on Instagram. The page, which has accumulated almost 35,000 followers, calls itself a fan page dedicated to “All Things Kim, Pete, and Kardashian, and Whatever else.”
People had many different reasons for signing the petition.
“He’s a bully,” one person wrote. “Promoting domestic violence,” said another. “The amount of abuse/veiled threats etc should not be celebrated/tolerated,” said a third. Some fans also shared that they had been victims of domestic violence and found his rhetoric harmful and damaging.
“His constant and restless attacks on the mother of his children isn't a behavior that should be rewarded. By allowing him to be a headliner at a highly attended and much sought after event only makes him feel justified for what he is doing,” one user wrote. “Kayne thinks he is one of the greatest artists and insults other artists all the time. By having him headline it could take away from the other artists that have worked hard.”
“His misogynistic, racist and violent rhetoric is abusive to his own children, and ours. He’s allowed people to use him to further their own personal enrichment,” another commented. “Suddenly, Kanye was interested in meeting Putin—right after he had dinner with Jared Kushner. Kanye needs a mental health evaluation. He’s surrounded by false friends who are just using him. He’s been calling himself God. Awaken your conscience and help this man.”
Hopefully, Ye will use his time away from performing to get the help that he needs.
