It is a pretty painful period for the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Martha Stewart, who recently lost her beloved cat Princess Peony.
Stewart is an enthusiastic animal lover who owns several pets, including French bulldogs, Himalayan cats, a Fell pony, and a couple of Friesian horses.
She shared the unfortunate news of her cat’s demise, detailing how the poor animal was killed and expressing how much she missed her.
Martha Stewart Shares News Of Princess Peony’s Death, Revealing Burial Site
The American businesswoman mourned her loss as she laid her deceased pet to rest. She posted a photo showing three men involved in the burial process. Stewart wrote in the caption:
“burying the beautiful and unusual Princess Peony. the four dogs mistook her for an interloper and killed her defenseless little self. i will miss her badly. RIP beauty.” [sic]
Her statement showed her dogs were to blame for the sad death, and well-wishers, including Kris Jenner, Ellen Pompeo, and Douglas Friedman, were quick to offer their condolences.
Following the post, the 80-year-old celebrity shared another post of her cute cat, telling the world that that was “the Princess Peony.” The post got tons of reactions and sympathies for the loss of such beauty.
A couple of fans called the pet beautiful, while others prayed she rested peacefully and sent their love. Several fans also wondered what kind of dogs would do such to a poor cat.
Princess Peony was a dominant calico Persian breed and is survived by her sister, Empress Tang. They were both born on May 11, 2009, and four months later, they moved in with Stewart.
The TV personality considered Peony and Tang as part of the most important members of her farm family, calling them “gorgeous,” “very special,” and “players.”

Stewart once mentioned that she owned many animals, including at least twenty cats, twenty-five dogs, ten chinchillas, a couple of canaries and parakeets, and two ponies.
She added several more creatures counting three donkeys, ten horses, sheep, goats, chickens, geese, turkeys, guinea fowls, quail, peacocks, and pigeons.
Her pets provided her with comfort during the pandemic while noting that people realized the importance of pets as great additions to the household.
The onscreen star shared, “[Pets] are wonderful for your children to have a responsibility of taking some taking care of something else. All of that is, to me, just endemic in this pandemic. It’s a wonderful thing that pets have become more beloved.”
The “Martha Stewart Living” Presenter Details Past Relationship With Anthony Hopkins
Stewart has been involved in a couple of relationships since she divorced her husband in 1990. Among her lovers was Anthony Hopkins, who played the role of Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs.”
As The Blast recounted, Hopkins won an Academy Award for his performance in 1992; however, his relationship with Stewart ended abruptly.
The New Jersey native recalled the details of her past romance with the actor and their split on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” after a clue hinted why she broke up with him.
Stewart could not stop associating Hopkins with Hannibal Lecter, and she said, “I have a big scary house in Maine that’s way by itself on a hundred acres forest. I couldn’t even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there. All I could think of was him eating, you know…”
Her unfinished statement certainly referred to the fictional character’s love for eating his captured human victims.
The writer’s relationship timeline was not really in the public eye, and in 2006, she told Howard Stern that she loved “The Father” actor, but he was scary.
At the time, she went on to talk about her house in Maine again, posing the question, “Do you want someone eating your brain while you are sitting in your beautiful dining room?”
Stewart believed she and Hopkins would have had an otherwise pretty good relationship despite her aversion to the fictional serial killer character.
Fortunately for the “Martha Stewart Living” publisher, she eventually got a new man in her life who she did not disclose when asked on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live.”
On the other hand, Hopkins added an achievement under his belt as he celebrated his over-four-decades sobriety journey. He shared the news on Instagram, detailing how the decision to remain sober helped his life.
