Hollywood actress Amanda Bynes was recently released from conservatorship and is trying to make up for lost time. The 36-year-old is known for her performances in movies like "She's the Man," "Sydney White," "What a Girl Wants," and several other titles in the 1990s and 2000s.

Following a series of drug-related disturbing incidents, one of which was allegedly setting fire to a driveway, the actress was put under conservatorship. Lynn Bynes, her mother, was given complete control over the actress's funds and overall well-being.

After almost nine years of conservatorship, Bynes was finally given free rein to do as she liked late last month. She recently revealed her future plans, including going back to school and launching a new fragrance.

Bynes is currently on the road to reclaiming her life and making up for lost time. A judge released the actress from her almost nine-year conservatorship on March 22. She is officially free to move and act the way she deems fit.

She just celebrated her 36th birthday and, in an interview with E! News, talked about her next step now that she was free to live on her own terms. Bynes said, "I am continuing with my Bachelor's Degree at FIDM, majoring in Creative Industry Studies with a core in Beauty Marketing and Product Development."

The actress continued, "I am traveling to New York in June to work on developing a fragrance which will be ready to launch near the holidays." A source told the news outlet that Bynes was "really happy" and enjoying her recently found freedom.

Following almost nine years of conservatorship, Bynes was finally given free rein over her life on March 22. The "She's the Man" actress spoke to People through her lawyer, David A. Esquibias, opening up about how much her fans' support helped her and her next step.

"Following today's decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship, I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time," Bynes said. "I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years."

The 36-year-old revealed that she worked on herself and her health enough to live and work independently over the last few years. She added that she would "continue to prioritize my well being in this next chapter."

Bynes' mother, Lynn, was previously granted conservatorship, first in August 2013 temporarily after a series of disturbing behaviors by the actress. She further gained full conservatorship in October 2014. She was reportedly legally in charge of all the actress's finances, medical care, and well-being.

The 36-year-old petitioned the court for a hearing in February, a move that her mother supported. Lynn's lawyer, Tamar Arminak, told E! News that she supported her daughter fully because of "Amanda's amazing progress."

The attorney further said his client was "very happy and proud of Amanda for everything that she's done and come through, and how she's stronger and better on the other side of this conservatorship." She was also apparently looking for a more mother-daughter relationship than their conservator-conservatee relationship.

Amanda Bynes Got Engaged In 2020

Bynes is reportedly planning to marry "the love of (her) life." She shared news of the engagement on Valentine's Day in 2020 but didn't reveal her beau's identity until later. Her fiancé turned out to be Paul Michael, who she met in rehab. The two dated for months before Michael popped the question.

In a December 2020 interview with E! News, Michael revealed that the couple were happy and always there for each other. "We take good care of each other, and we're understanding of one another, and she is a good listener, and we're there for each other," he said.

"We have the best time, and I love spending every second with her. She is the best thing that ever happened to me," Michael added. They were reportedly not living together at that time but still spent most of their time together.
