J.K. Rowling, the author and filmmaker who gained critical recognition for her "Harry Potter" book and film franchise, returned to Hollywood in 2016 as a producer and screenplay writer for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

Rowling went on to co-produce the sequel "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" in 2018 and work on the franchise's third film, "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore," which just opened in London.

While Rowling looked stunning on the red carpet, her attendance comes after a flurry of contentious media exchanges between her and the transgender community, whose members are calling for the author's cancellation.

While Rowling's new film will bring her back into the spotlight in Hollywood, she has been stirring controversy on social media for her views on transgender people and her opposition to legislation to aid the legal process for trans persons to alter their biological identities.

In the past, the author sent out a series of tweets aimed at the transgender community, which has resulted in a lot of anger from them. One of the tweets criticized the Scottish police force over a proposed modification to their guiding regulations that would allow rapists to self-identify as women.

"War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength. The Penised Individual Who Raped You Is a Woman," she once penned on Twitter.

Before the annual International Women's Day celebration, Rowling railed against proposed amendments to Scotland's Gender Recognition Reform Bill. Despite making statements that seem to represent her in that way, she continues to deny being transphobic.

Former cast members of the "Harry Potter" franchise have slammed the author despite their long-term involvement in the film series. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are among those who have come out against Rowling's widely panned views towards the transgender community.

The trio of celebrities has also shown their support for the community, issuing many remarks that urged the public not to discriminate against transgender persons, stating that they are all entitled to live in love and without judgment.
