'Black-ish' Star Anthony Anderson's Wife Files For Divorce After 22 Years Of Marriage

Anthony Anderson's wife has filed for divorce from the television star after over 22 years of marriage.

According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Alvina Stewart Anderson filed for dissolution of marriage in Los Angeles County Courts. Alvina cited "irreconcilable differences" as a reason for the split.

The 'Black-ish' star and his wife have been married for over 22 years.  The couple tied the knot in 1999.

The marriage, according to reports, has had its ups and downs over the years. In 2015, Alvina filed for divorce, but dismissed the petition and reconciled with the actor, and made several red carpet appearances together as a couple since that time. At the time, Alvina told the court she would share joint legal and physical custody of the couple's son, and wanted spousal support. Also, she said the couple separated in April of 2014, meaning they were broken up for over a year.

In the new filing, Alvina claims the couple's date of separation is "TBD" and is asking that he pay spousal support. "All gifts and inheritance, all assets, earnings, accumulations, and debts acquired by Petitioner prior to the date of marriage and after the date of separation, the exact nature and extent of which are unknown," the documents read. We are guessing the couple does NOT have a prenuptial agreement -- and in California, that means they will split everything in half.

The ex-couple shares two children together, but since they are both adults -- no child support will be ordered. Interestingly, the couple's son -- Nathan -- has already followed in his father's footstep's appearing in the television show, 'All About the Washingtons.'

The famous former couple met back in college where both were attending Howard University. Anderson recalled the story on several occasions during interviews about his personal life.

"My sophomore year [1989], her freshman year, I knew a girl who lived in the apartment, so I went to knock on the door to invite her to this party that I and my buddies were having. My wife answered the door. I was like, ‘I was coming to invite Stacey to this party we’re having.’ Stacey didn’t show up, but my wife did—and we have been together ever since that night. And I was just me: I got there early, she didn’t see anybody else, she was, ‘All right, I’m gonna rock out with this dude!’ We got married on our 10-year anniversary," he recalled.

Interestingly, Anthony shared a video on social media of himself buying multiple television for his "apartment in New York." Our guess is he might be spending a little more time on the East Coast due to the break-up. In the clip, Anderson is hitching a ride from a random person, who helped him carry the massive televisions from the store to his home.
