Miley Cyrus was due to perform with the Foo Fighters on Friday at the Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogota, Colombia before a “medical emergency” got their appearance canceled. Later, after an announcement about their non-appearance, the band took to social media to announce the death of their beloved drummer, Taylor Hawkins, 50.
Miley Cyrus also took to Instagram (stories) and has dedicated her next show to Hawkins, whom she was a fan of, and considered a friend.
Miley Cyrus Is A Taylor Hawkins Fan
Miley Cyrus has been a longtime fan of Foo Fighters and recently worked with Hawkins, specifically for the drum work on her Billy Idol collaboration “Night Crawling”, from her 2021 rock crossover record Plastic Hearts.
Cyrus and the Foo Fighters also headlined the Lollapalooza Chile festival, playing on March 18-19, and were also supposed to perform on Friday at the Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogota, Colombia.
After Hawkins’ death became news, Cyrus took to Instagram stories to post a tribute to her favorite drummer.
She announced on the smiling photo of Taylor Hawkins, “This is how I’ll always remember you… My show tomorrow is dedicated to Taylor Hawkins.”
Miley Cyrus Remembers Him In Happier Times
When a person is gone, it’s often best to remember them in the happiest memories you have of them, and that’s what Miley Cyrus did.
Her second Instagram story was a link to the song “Brass in Pocket” by The Pretenders, and wrote how the song marks her “favorite memory with Taylor is dancing around his drum while he played along to this song.”
She also wrote, “Playing it on repeat imagining us laughing… love forever.”
After Hawkins’ passing, there are plenty of other fans and friends who are remembering Hawkins in a good light.
As one fan recently mentioned, “Two days ago….the only Foo Fighter guy who came out and greets their fans here in Paraguay now is forever gone RIP Taylor Hawkins…”

Others on Twitter are wondering at the drums in heaven right now…
Imagine that drum off that is happening right now, Keith Moon, Taylor Hawkins, Gene Krupa, John Bonham, Buddy Rich, and (the obvious winner) Neil Peart.
