Foo Fighters’ Drummer Taylor Hawkins is dead at 50.

The announcement came from the official Twitter and Instagram  accounts of the band.

The statement spoke about how the band was “devastated by the tragic and untimely loss.”

Foo Fighters has requested for the privacy of Hawkins’ family to “be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time."

They also said, “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.”

No cause of death has been revealed for now although Hawkins had OD’d on drugs in 2001, though he did dub it a wake-up call.

He is survived by his wife, Alison, whom he married in 2005, and  their three children.

The Foo Fighters had been touring South America and their last performance was in Argentina, last week.

They were scheduled to perform in Colombia on Friday which they cancelled due to a “medical emergency” before the news of Hawkins death broke.
