“I’m also really excited for you to hear it as well, cause I just heard the Master. But, it just brings me back to 2019 which was the f**king worst year of my life,” he continued through tears.

Puth knows these aren’t the typical kind of videos he produces. His content is more light-hearted and comical.

This song represents what he didn’t tell people during this time and the pain he endured.

“I never told people what happened to me and the pain that I went through going through the worst breakup of my life in 2019,” he said. “I just wanted to throw it under the carpet and just start over and surround myself with better people. But this is the hardest song that I’ve ever had to put together and I’m so excited for you to hear it.”

Puth didn’t outright name his ex-girlfriend in the video, but back in 2019, he was dating model and fellow pop star Charlotte Lawrence.

According to reports, Lawrence reportedly began dating Puth when she was 18 and he was 27 after he worked as a producer on some of her music.

Prior to his relationship with Lawrence, Puth dated Selena Gomez before she got back together with Justin Bieber.

Speaking of JBiebs, the singer recently took aim at Puth, in a joking manner, about their 2016 feud.

Back in February, Beiber pranked Puth by confronting him for yelling “F**K you, Justin Bieber” during a 2016 concert.

In the clip, Bieber was hanging out with Kid Laroi when he was handed a video call with Puth on the other end. After they both exchanged pleasantries, Bieber chipped in the diss. “We never really got to talk about just like years ago when you said ‘F— you’ on stage to me.”

This was hilarious to Puth, who started laughing. However, Bieber said, stoned-faced. “I don’t think it’s hilarious, to be honest.”

“What, you’re talking about that s— from six years ago?” Puth replied. “That was like a f**king…that was a joke.”

Although the singer started to defend himself, Bieber maintained his stance.” I know, but it hurt my feelings.” However, Laroi was laughing and covering his face in the background.

“Bro, I was being facetious,” Puth said. “I was being completely sarcastic. I also can’t tell if you’re joking right now.”

Bieber eventually eased in and began to laugh. This revealed to Puth that he was pranking him all along.
