'And Just Like That...' Renewed Despite Mixed Reviews & BTS Drama!

And just like that… Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes will be returning to a TV screen near you.

The trendy trio played by Sarah Jessica Parker (Bradshaw), Kristin Davis (York) and Cynthia Nixon (Hobbes) have all signed on for a second season of the “Sex and the City” spinoff series, “And Just Like That…”

Nixon celebrated the news on social media by sharing The Hollywood Reporter's article.

Davis also celebrated the news on her Instagram account writing, "We are so excited to continue the show! Thank you to all of our supporters and also to everyone who had something to say. As @variety said “ the show that made the internet explode in conversation each week”. What a thrill to be a part of a show like this! And so thrilled to get to continue ????????????

Bradshaw’s husband Mr. Big dies from a heart attack, her gay best friend Standford Blatch leaves his husband for Australia, and Hobbes decides to divorce her husband, Steve, to be with Che Diaz, a non-binary comedian and podcast host, in Los Angeles, CA.

York doesn’t haven't anything too wild happen to her other than a few embarrassing parenting moments and a near-failed Bat-Mitzvah.

All in all, season one of ‘AJLT’ was a semi-wild ride for all who tuned in.

Shockingly or (not so shockingly) enough, despite garnering mixed reviews and a massive sexual assault scandal involving Chris Noth (Mr. Big), the show has been renewed by HBO Max for a second season.

On Tuesday, March 22, the TV giant and streaming service announced the exciting news.

"I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters - played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we're all thrilled," executive producer Michael Patrick King said in a statement. "And Just like That... our Sex life is back."

Longtime fans of the TV series and spinoff movies know that Samantha Jones played by Kim Cattrall did NOT return for ‘AJLT;’ however, King and Parker were able to write her character into the show.

Behind the scenes, Cattrall didn’t see eye-to-eye with SJP and her other co-stars.

There was a lot of buzz claiming Cattrall was being a “diva” and refusing to work if she didn’t get more air time.

Cattrall went on the record in 2017 during an interview with Piers Morgan where she shared her side of the story.

She revealed she had been saying ‘NO’ to a third film for over a year before SJP went public with her version of the story, which painted a horrible picture of Cattrall.

“Nobody ever picks up the phone and tries to contact you and say, ‘How you doing?’ That would have been the way to handle it,” Cattrall shared, suggesting SJP is not the only co-star to blame for the rift. “This is, it feels like, a toxic relationship.”

Cattrall also went on to say, “I think she [Sarah Jessica] could’ve been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is.

In December 2016, Cattrall said, “Thank you, but no,” to a third ‘SATC’ movie.

Earlier this year, King made it very clear that Cattrall would NEVER be welcomed back to the ‘SATC’/‘AJLT’ family during an interview with VARIETY.

When asked if he would keep the door open to Cattrall he replied, “No. Just like there was no thought that Kim would ever participate in And Just Like That, because she’s said what she had said.”

King went on to say that he is firm in his stance that fans should not expect to ever see Cattrall on the show.

“The only place I participate in magical thinking is in fiction,” he said. “You take people at their word, and you’re a smart producer — you don’t back yourself into a corner. Magically thinking, it’s great to have Samantha. I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again.”
