There Are Many Big Country Music Names Performing
This year, some of the country music stars performing at the CMT Awards include Keith Urban, Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Cody Johnson, Cole Swindell, Kane Brown, Carly Pearce, and Lainey Wilson.
Kelsea Ballerini, the “half of my hometown” singer, will also be performing at the ceremony and doubling as a co-host with actor Anthony Mackie. She is also nominated for the video of the year award.
Almost all the performers revealed are also nominated in at least one category. In Ballerini’s case, she is up against tough competition for the video of the year award. She was nominated alongside Kane Brown, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Marren Morris, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, and Cole Swindell.
Kane Brown Has The Most CMT Nominations
The “Lose It” singer was nominated in four categories, the highest for any artist this year. The categories he was nominated in include video of the year, CMT performance of the year, and male video of the year.
After Brown is Ballerini, Breland, Johnson, and Mickey Guyton, who were nominated in three categories each, for Breland and Johnson, it will be their very first time being nominated at the CMT Awards, and they are super excited about it.
Breland spoke to PEOPLE about the nomination and said, “I got the news and I was immediately sobbing. I was just a wreck. I’m just truly, incredibly grateful to be nominated for this… I don’t take it for granted at all.”
Carrie Underwood Scored A Video Of The Year Nomination At The CMT Music Awards
Country music singer and songwriter Carrie Underwood, who recently released a new song titled “Ghost Story,” is nominated in two categories. Her collaboration with Jason Aldean, titled “If I Didn’t Love You,” is nominated for video of the year and collaborative video of the year.
Underwood is currently CMT’s most-awarded artist, with a total of 23 wins over her more than a decade-long career. “If I Didn’t Love You” is already an award-winning track as it won the Single of the Year award at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards.
In Aldean’s acceptance speech, he thanked Underwood for “agreeing to do this song” and also thanked the songwriters and their record companies. Many fans have shared that they think the song is a big contender for the CMT video of the year award.
There Are More Performers To Be Announced
There are still several announcements concerning additional performers and presenters for the ceremony, and the CMT award body will make the reveals in the coming weeks as April 11th gets closer.
Executive producers Margaret Comeaux, Leslie Fram, and John Hamlin released a statement about the upcoming ceremony and said, “Expect the most unforgettable CMT Music Awards yet, jam-packed with the most star-power, world premiere performances and one-of-a-kind collaborations from in and around Music City.”
Voting is currently open, and fans can vote for their selected favorites at the CMT website. The ceremony will stream live and on-demand on CBS and Paramount plus.
