Sandra Bullock is one of the most beloved actresses of all time. From comedic chops to intense drama, the star has proven to be able to do it all. Her career wasn't always smooth sailing, as her first significant role was almost played by someone else.
In fact, over the years, she's experienced many highs and lows when it comes to public acclaim and success of her films.
One major highlight of her career was when she bagged the Academy Award For Best Actress for her role in "Blind Side."
Despite her achievements and successes, there's a particular movie the actress isn't proud of starring in.
Sandra Bullock Regrets Starring In 'Speed 2'
During an interview with Daniel Radcliffe for TooFab, the actress looked back on her movie career and talked about the movie she featured in, which made no sense.
"I have one [that] no one came around to, and I'm still embarrassed I was in," Bullock responded. "It's called Speed 2. I've been very vocal about it. Makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island."
"That's one I wished I hadn't done and no fans came around that I know of, except for you," she added, referring to Radcliffe, who said that he adores the film as a young child.
"I feel like it had a kind of cult love as well," Radcliffe interjected, to which the 57-year old actress retorted, "Very quiet! Like five people. He and the other four 12-year-olds were watching the slow boat going towards the tiny island."
The star featured alongside Jason Patric and played the role of Annie, who tried to stop a Caribbean ship from crashing into an oil tanker.
Bullock Wasn't The Only Person Who Had Issues With The Movie
After the success of "Speed," the director, Jan De Bront, worked on its sequel. "I had in my contract that I would do a sequel," he said while admitting, "Generally, I'm not a huge fan of sequels."
He also hoped to have Bullock and Keanu Reeves back, or it would be an entirely whole new movie.
While he managed to get Bullock on board, Reeves declined. "At the time, I didn't respond to the script. I really wanted to work with Sandra Bullock, I loved playing Jack Traven, and I loved Speed, but an ocean liner? I had nothing against the artists involved, but at that time, I had the feeling it just wasn't right," he explained, per CNN.
He also mentioned in 2015 that the primary reason he refused to participate in the movie was that he didn't like the script.
"I didn't get to be in that. Well, I decided not to be in that," he said. "I loved working with [director] Jan de Bont and Sandra, of course. It was just a situation in life where I got the script and read it, and I was like, 'Ugh.' It was about a cruise ship, and I was thinking, 'A bus, a cruise ship… Speed, bus, but then a cruise ship is even slower than a bus, and I was like, 'I love you guys, but I just can't do it.'"
Bullock Will Be Temporarily Halting Her Career To Enjoy Family Time
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress disclosed that she'd be temporarily halting her career to spend time with her kids.
"Right now, and I don't know how long that will be, I need to be in the place that makes me happiest," Bullock disclosed. "I take my job very seriously when I'm at work. It's 24/7, and I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family."
She added, "We don't know how long or how short, but that's where I'm gonna be for a while."
She also revealed that she's excited for her kids to attend the premiere of her "Lost City" movie, which hits theatres on March 25.
"They'll back door it. Though Laila really wants to be on the carpet. I was like, 'Not happening.' But they get to see it, and they all get to invite a friend," Bullock explained to ET. "It'll be the first time out of this sort of dark cloud of the pandemic that they get to feel some kind of feeling of normalcy."
Sandra Bullock Has A Great Relationship With Her Kids
Last year, the actress opened up about her relationship with her kids and how she's watched them grow over the years.
"I'm just a mom. When I'm gone, I'm missed, when I'm there, I'm annoying, and that's exactly the way it should be."
She added, "I love who they are. Every day I get to see who they are. I am one of the lucky individuals that gets to be around my children all the time and see who they get to grow up and be. And who they're growing up to be, I couldn't be more proud of."
