Sean Pennhas just quickly settled the divorce with his ex-wife, Leila George, who is the daughter of legendary actor Vincent D'Onofrio.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the actor submitted a settlement package to the L.A. County Courts, marking the official end to his short-lived marriage to the Australian actress.
As we reported, Leila George D'Onofrio filed for dissolution of marriage back in October after just one year of marriage.
Sean Penn Wife Files For Divorce After Only One Year Of Marriage
At this point, the details of who got what in the split are unknown, but the couple had an iron-clad prenuptial agreement that laid out specifics of their finances in anticipation of any break-up. Essentially, Sean Penn is an extremely wealthy person, and Leila makes money in her own right -- so the couple decides on how things will be separated beforehand in case of a divorce.
Quickly following the divorce filing, the couple agreed to take it out of the public court system and negotiate any terms of the settlement with a private judge. The former couple has no children, so custody and child support won't be an issue.
Although the couple has been dating since 2016, they were only married for one year. The original divorce filing says the ex-couple was married on July 30, 2020, and separated on September 28, 2021. The only specific terms in the legal filing are that the court will terminate its ability to award spousal support (due to the prenup) and Sean Penn should be responsible to pay for BOTH attorney's fees.
Actress Leila George Is The Daughter Of Legendary Actor Vincent D'Onofrio
The 60-year-old Oscar-winning actor married D'Onofrio during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and only minimal loved ones were in attendance at the wedding. At the time, Penn opened up to Seth Meyers about the situation, saying, "We did a COVID wedding, by that I mean it was a county commissioner on Zoom, we were at the house, my two children and her brother, and we did it that way."
Adding, "They got back together during COVID and became really close and got engaged a few months ago, early during quarantine."
A friend added, "Leila has been in Sean’s life for a while. They got together and then they broke up, and Sean won her back. He realized he had made a mistake and when he felt he might lose her, he worked hard to get her back."
Sean Penn Spends Weeks Following Divorce Covering War In Russia
As you know, Sean Penn was married to Robin Wright-Penn and Charlize Theron in the past. Plus, he was married to Madonna from 1985 to 1989.
The actor made huge headlines in the past few weeks after arriving in Ukraine to film a documentary about the war with Russia. The director and activist and his crew were reportedly forced to WALK across the Ukrainian border into Poland after ditching their car amidst the fighting.
"Myself & two colleagues walked miles to the Polish border after abandoning our car on the side of the road," he tweeted. Adding, "Almost all the cars in this photo carry women & children only, most without any sign of luggage, and a car their only possession of value. President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people have risen as historic symbols of courage and principle. Ukraine is the tip of the spear for the democratic embrace of dreams. If we allow it to fight alone, our soul as America is lost."
