‘There’s Never Been Infidelity In Our Marriage’
Smith appeared on CBS’s “Sunday Morning” with Gayle King, majorly discussing his latest feature in “King Richards.” Subsequently, the conversation swung towards the rumored cases of infidelity in his marriage which spawned a major revelation from the actor.
“There’s never been infidelity in our marriage. Never,” he said. “Jada and I talk about everything, and we have never surprised one another with anything ever.”
Smith added, “I have decided that chatter about my life can be of benefit to people. I think that chatter is the first stage to having a real conversation and being able to truly explore if some of the things in your heart are loving or poisonous.”
While the SAG winner seemed sincere while affirming that the vows of his marriage had not been defiled, fans still had significant doubts about his statement, given the major scandal the couple faced in 2020.
August Alsina, Will, And Jada Smith ‘Entanglement’
In July 2020, Jada claimed she had a love involvement with musician August Alsina while she and Smith were separated for a short time. She shared her confession about the “entanglement” on an episode of her Facebook Watch show “Red Table Talk,” which was hosted to discuss Alsina’s claims that they had an affair.
At the time, the “Girls Trip” actor said that her romance with Alsina was in no way a violation of the tenets of their marriage as she and Smith were on a break. Although fans thought the “entanglement” would lead to a divorce, Jada explained that she and Smith were able to fix up their bond, alluding that the ordeal made them move to a new phase of unconditional love.
Smith Said Jada Does Not Believe In Conventional Marriage
Smith told GQ last year while promoting his biography that Jada “never believed in a conventional marriage.”
“Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up,” the actor said at the time. “There were significant endless discussions about what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.”
Smith further discussed that their chosen path is unique, allowing their marriage not to feel like a prison and sustaining their love.
Smith Discusses His Relationship With His Father
“King Richard “featured Will Smith as Richard Williams, father of tennis icons Serena and Venus Williams. The autobiography chronicles the life of Richard and the impact he had on his daughters, aiding them to become the most successful sisters in the world of tennis.
While Smith’s character in “King Richard” was hell-bent on churning the best out of his daughters, the actor once revealed that he could not boast of a similar relationship with his father. In his memoir, he stated that his father often beat hope his mother, which affected him immensely.
Fortunately, Smith was able to reconcile with his father before his death in 2016, and by doing so, he was also able to release himself from his pent-up anger.
