Toni Braxton Confirms Traci's Death: 'Our Angel Is Now A Snowflake'

The Braxton family is mourning the monumental loss of Traci Braxton.

The singer passed away after privately battling Esophageal cancer for years.

She was 50-years-old.

Traci’s husband released a statement toTMZ that read, “We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatment for Esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory.”

The outlet reports, Traci was surrounded by her mom, sisters and friends when she passed.

Toni Braxton confirmed her sister’s passing on Twitter and Instagram.

On Twitter she wrote, “Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling, our angel is now a snowflake. We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life. We are family forever. Love, The Braxton Family.”

She followed up the sentiment with an Instagram post.

“It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci,” she wrote. “Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly.

Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling, our angel is now a snowflake. We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life. We are family forever.”

She signed off her message with, “Love, The Braxton Family.”

As you can imagine, many of Toni’s friends and fans sent well wishes to her and her family during this arduous time.

Kalen Allen commented, “❤️❤️❤️❤️ all of you are our family! Sending you love and prayers!”

D-Nice wrote, “Literally reading this as I listen to your music during my flight. My condolences to you and your family.”

DL Hughley reposted Toni’s post and also commented, “???? Prayers for strength to the entire family during this time.”

Many others sent messages of prayer and condolences.

“Traci” began trending on Twitter on Saturday, March 12.

One fan reposted a clip of Traci from “Braxton Family Values,” in which she praises her sister, Tamar Braxton, for her drive and endurance.

They tweeted, “?? RIP to Traci Braxton. I’m so shocked right now. Prayers up for the family for real.”

Another wrote, “OMG! RIP ?Traci Braxton #F**kCancer.”

One saddened fan took the moment to tell everyone to stop judging people.

“Traci Braxton never publicly announced that she was battling cancer for years ?…she posted a pic last year after losing weight & people criticized her so much so that she turned her comments off.. ? STOP JUDGING PEOPLE!!YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY BATTLING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.”

Another expressed how her passing felt like losing a family member.

“Losing Traci Braxton feels like losing an auntie. We love that family yall, and I thank Traci and the Braxtons for being so raw and selfless with her precious family time for us as black people to feel seen, heard and understood through their show. Prayers to The Braxtons,” they wrote.
