Having a sister means having an eternal and unconditional tower of support for the Bailey sisters.
Although they are iconic young stars who have earned several awards and recognition, they are familiar with the toll of being a Black woman in the entertainment industry.
Despite the hurdles, the sisters have learned to prioritize loving each other all the step of the way.
In a recent interview with E!News, the duo reflected on their effect on each other. Specifically, Halle opened up on how she struggled with imposter syndrome and how her sister’s encouragement helped her pull through.
“It just feels so surreal to be doing meetings [with] all these people that I’m such big fans of and sometimes you feel like you have imposter syndrome,” said Halle. “Chlöe was lifting my spirits up the other day like, ‘No, you’re meant to be in there too.’ I think that’s just so powerful and so special to have someone like her in my life where she can just remind me of that.”
Halle Acknowledges Her Growth To Chloe Bailey
Halle mentioned that Chloe shaped her while growing up in the same interview.
“My sister empowers me every day just by being herself and watching how hard she works,” Halle said. “I think that I’ve always had a great example in her growing up of what I would like to be and what impact I would want to have on people.”
In response, Chloé said that her sister always encouraged her, and she could count on her anytime she felt doubtful.
“Anytime I’m feeling discouraged, or like if I’m doubting myself, Halle will be the first one to make me snap out of it,” Chloe said. “I’m so grateful to be on this journey of life with her, because there’s so many moments where I do doubt myself and my capabilities. Having someone who knows every single bit and piece of me encourage me, it means the world every single time.”
About The Bailey Sister’s New Project
The pair partnered with Neutrogena studios to mentor filmmakers of diverse backgrounds whose stories focused on celebrating healthy skin. Two scholarship recipients, Kyra Peters and Sarah Jean Williams, were picked. The pair received $25,000 each and full-time coaching to create gripping films centered around self-acceptance.
“When it comes to Sarah Jean and Kyra, we were so touched by their stories because we really felt that [their films] told the story so clearly of finding the power and freedom in your skin and what that journey looks like,” Halle mentioned of the selection “Sometimes it’s a winding road. Sometimes it’s trials and triumphs that you go through in order to get to the ending where you truly feel good about yourself and who you are in your skin. We definitely feel like they hit the nail on the head.”
Peter’s short movie, “En Vant,” is about a ballerina who is a person of color and “struggles with self-acceptance as she faces racism in a white-dominated art form.” Williams’ film, “If My Voice Rang Louder Than My Skin,” told the story of a boy who constantly wished the color of his skin didn’t have such an effect on his life.
Chloe’s Debut Single Is From An Unreleased Album
In 2021, Chloe released her debut solo single, “Have Mercy.” The song went viral on Tiktok, was on top 28 on the Billboard chart, and is the singer’s first single from an unreleased and untitled album. According to her sister, the album, when released, promises to be a bop.
“Individually, you guys should really be paying attention to my sister. ‘Have Mercy’, her single that just came out is so amazing,” Halle says. “Also her album is going to be in the New Year, which we’re so excited for. Please look out for that.”
Chloe X Halle’s Clothing Collection
Last year, the pair partnered with PINK to launch their first clothing collection. The collection, which consisted of leggings, turtle-necks, sherpa jackets, and crop-tops, was launched in colors of black and purple, in the representation of their sisterhood.
“I love how it’s purple and black because black is very slimming and sleek. We wear black a lot,” Chloe said. “But the purple also represents our sisterhood bond and royalty and how we are queens. We want women to feel powerful when they put it on and comfortable and easy and simple.”
As for why they partnered with PINK, they mentioned that their value-aligned. “We’ve always loved PINK. We love what they’ve stood for. It’s all about empowering you as an individual and feeling comfortable in your skin,” Halle mentioned.
They also added that their favorite fashion item from the collection was the sherpa jacket, as it was warm and cozy and could be worn to different places.
