After Amanda got involved in some danger-filled ordeals, including getting into a series of vehicle accidents and setting fire to a driveway in California, her parents took legal action and were given control of their daughter’s healthcare and money.

The American actress filed a lawsuit to end her conservatorship, which would serve as a huge step on the path to personal freedom.

According to the court document filed in Ventura County Court in California, the actress requested that the outside control of her person and estate be dissolved permanently. Through the filing, she expressed her displeasure at being kept under the shackles of the conservatorship for more than what was necessary.

To back up her claim, Bynes submitted paperwork with her doctor, requesting an update on her mental health, which she believes would help the swing the court’s decision in her favor during the upcoming hearing.

Amanda’s lawyer, David Esquibias, had earlier given an interview in September, citing that his client’s conservatorship would cease when it was “no longer convenient,” then it could be over.

He also provided an update on his client, stating that she is “doing pretty well, except from worry and trauma.”

While many are drawing comparisons between Britney Spears’ conservatorship experience and Amanda’s experience, the actress-turned-fashion student denies Britney had anything to do with her decision.

Amanda’s lawyer has made it very clear – in no way was her decision inspired by the songstress.

Unlike Spears’ case where her father, Jamie Spears, actively fought against ending the conservatorship, Amanda’s family is standing right by her.
