It's official, mega-celebrity Pamela Anderson is all set to make her Broadway Debut.
After a lifetime of acting, she is finally taking a drive down the theater lane. Pamela Anderson's debut play will be a famous Musical and an all-time classic, 'Chicago'.
Much of a contrast to her career (or maybe not so), she'll play the role of Roxie Hart, a celebrity, dancer, and housewife who kills her side-lover and then hires Chicago's most potent criminal lawyer to fight her case.
'Playing Roxie Hart Is A Dream Fulfilled'
'I have always been a huge fan of Bob Fosse’s and Gwen Verdon’s work. Ann Reinking, too. Playing Roxie Hart is a dream fulfilled. Performing Fosse, you don’t have time to get in your head. You can’t dance, sing and think at the same time. There is freedom, a unique joy in knowing it’s all about the work. Playing Roxie Hart is a sweet escape for me.'- Pamela Anderson said about playing her role.
From Baywatch To Broadway

Pamela Anderson set to fame with her viciously sexy role in 'Baywatch'. Since then, she has been a celebrated model, actress, and pop-culture sensation. She was maybe the Kardashian of her times, but with maybe a lot more acting gigs. Anyway, 'Chicago' is based mainly on the poisonous side of celebrity culture, and how it influences the media, court, and administration. Celebrities are 'The Man' from the Musical's perspective, and they'll go to any length to defend (or rather promote) their image. Possibly this is why Pamela Anderson chose to play the character, that too on her debut. Basically, she might've 'seen' such things in real life.
'Chicago' is based in the 1920s. It centers around Roxie Hart (which Pamela Anderson will play), a celebrated dancer and a housewife who kills her side-lover. She does so because her lover threatens to leave her. Roxie then hires a ferocious and intelligent lawyer to fight her murder case. The duo then tries their hands at fake headlines, buying media attention, and sensationalizing the case. It is a tough role for someone who is just starting their Broadway career, but Pamela's has lots of 'real-time' experience.
Pamela Has Acting Chops
'Pam is a very moral person, extremely moral. She cares about animals. She cares about the planet. She cares about people. The difference between her as Pam and Roxie is Roxie doesn’t care about anyone but herself, and she doesn’t give a damn about the outside world as long as she can be famous. So Pam comes with totally opposite attributes in life, but she fits because of her celebrity, what she’s gone through in life.'- Bob Weissler, the play's producer, pointed out. Weissler had offered this role to Pamela almost 10 years ago, but at that time, Pamela Anderson had impossible schedules to work on.
'Now that we’re doing it, it’s even more opportune. It’s more timely. She's really standing for something now — as a professional, as an activist, as a very talented lady. She can surprise a lot of people. The woman has acting chops. She certainly can dance, and her singing voice is quite good. So here we go.'- Weissler told the press while pointing out how important it was that Pamela Anderson played the role.
She's Doubling Down...On Herself

'From ‘Baywatch’ to Broadway. I am inspired by the unexpected. This is it, and I will not hold back anymore. I am letting go. I am ready to see what I’m capable of. For ‘Chicago,’ I’ll be putting all my cards on the table. I am doubling down — on me.'- Pamela Anderson ambitiously told the Associated Press.
'Chicago' features songs like 'All That Jazz' and 'Cell Block Tango', which the audiences tend to literally lip sync. Actresses like Renée Zellweger, Melanie Griffith, Ashlee Simpson, and many more have brought Roxie Hart alive on stage. Stars like Usher, Sofia Vergara, Rita Wilson, and Queen Latifa have also made it to 'Chicago', among others. So, it's a hot catch for Pamela Anderson, and she surely will prevail.

Interestingly, a Hulu series called 'Pam and Tommy' which is a fictional series based on Pamela Anderson's romantic life is already catching the buzz. Netflix has also greenlit a documentary based on Pamela Anderson's life. It will be fascinating to see how people react to Pamela's Roxie after watching her real life. 'Chicago' will be performed at the Ambassador Theater from April 15 to June 5.
