Season one of the new "iCarly" was released on June 17 on Paramount+. The season has 13 episodes and is a sequel to the original Nickelodeon sitcom released in 2007. Due to its success, the series got renewed for a second season after just a month of streaming. According to Deadline, it is one of the most-streamed titles on Paramount+.

The original show was one of the highest-rated Nickelodeon shows till it ended in 2012. The continuation started off ten years after the 2007 show with some significant changes. In her late 20s, the character, Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) still lives in Seattle and decides to bring back her old popular channel, "iCarly." She does this with the aid of her best friend Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress), a two-time divorcee now, and her roommate Harper (Laci Mosley.)

More Original Cast Members Are Welcome

One face fans wanted to see was Sam, Carly's best friend in the original show. The character was played by Jeannette McCurdy. Unfortunately for the show, McCurdy apparently retired from acting and has no plans to return. The actress wasn't present in the first season.

The studio is still trying to get as much of the original crew back for this second season. In a YouTube interview with a Brazilian channel, Foquinha, Cosgrove stated, "We are trying to get as many people back from the original series as possible." She also added that she wanted Lewbert played by Jeremy Rowlet, and T-Bo, Boogie, to be part of the cast this season.

Via Entertainment Weekly, Schouten said, "I love having characters from the original back." The showrunner explained that a big part of the process involves finding great ways to integrate the old characters into the fold. He added that Trainor's elusive friend Socko might appear, same as Victoria Justice.

'iCarly' Season Two Plot

The first season saw Carly's encounter with a stalker from the original "iCarly." Freddie's ex-wife Gwen, played by Carmela Zubado, also returned. Reboot Carly handled issues that came with internet fame, like data mining and multi-level marketing schemes.

The 13th episode of season one ended with a cliffhanger for Carly. Two men confessed their feelings to her just before the lead character and her friends were taken from the campsite. One of the first things the second season will do will probably be to show Carly's choice between her new beau, Wes, and her ex-boyfriend, who ended things in the pilot.

Via EW, showrunner Schouten said an episode would also be dedicated to tackling women on the internet. He said, "Originally, Carly was the first of her kind, she was one of the first content creators — now they're everywhere. And women in particular face a certain set of challenges that Carly would be facing, and that we should and will be looking at."
