Fans of the Indiana Jones franchise have good reason to be excited!
The film has been hit with numerous delays over the years. Although the entertainment industry shut its doors during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the cast and crew cautiously returned to the set with strict masking and vaccine requirements.
However, things took a turn for the worse last summer when Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, injured his shoulder during a fight scene. The 79-year-old actor was spotted out and about with a cast in London throughout the summer and did not return to the film set in Italy until October.
Although one cast member had passed away and another was hospitalized during the film's tumultuous production, producer Frank Marshall took to Twitter to reveal that the film had finally wrapped production!

On Sunday, producer Frank Marshall - husband of Lucasfilm President KathleenKennedy - revealed that filming on the fifth installment of the franchise had come to a close. Although there is no doubt still much work to be completed in post-production, it is a promising sign that the movie will be able to meet its 2023 release date.
In the tweet, Marshall shared a photograph of a brown cap with the name "Indy" stitched across the front in yellow letters. He tweeted, "That's a wrap!!! #indianajones."
Many fans liked the tweet and offered their congratulations for what was undoubtedly a difficult shoot.
"Congrats," one fan wrote.
"I am so excited to see this movie," said another.
“Can’t wait,” another commented. “Wishing you all good luck on the journey to the finish line.”
“No, Frank, that’s a cap. Easy mistake to make,” another joked. “(Also: congrats! Can’t wait to see it.)” Frank replied, “Oh, you’re right! And thanks!”
The news is a relief to many, especially when there was news of a crew member being hospitalized on set just last week.
Harrison Ford Helps Crew Member On 'Indiana Jones' Film Set
Earlier this week, The Blast reported that a man had been having a suspected heart attack while Ford was only a few yards away. According to an inside source, Ford saw that the man was in distress and quickly called for a medic.
A source close to the production revealed that “All of a sudden a male member of crew collapsed” and Ford “was standing just yards away and called for a medic.”
The source said that it resulted in “a huge amount of panic” on set. An “on-site first aider did CPR while they waited for an air ambulance and paramedics to arrive.”
Although the current condition of the crew member is still not known at this time, it was reported at the time that the cast has “been at Pinewood and are due to finish on Friday.” Although it took an extra few days of filming, fans are excited to see what comes next for Indiana Jones!
Who Will Be The Next Indiana Jones?
Unfortunately, very little plot information is known about the film at this time. According to The Daily Mail, Kennedy has hinted at making some “big” changes to the new film and possibly plans on replacing Ford with a brand new actor to carry the torch to the next generation.
Many fans think that the changes Kennedy is talking about might tie into the rumors that “Fleabag” creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is set to take over as the new star of the franchise. However, very little is known about her character at this time. The outlet reported that, if the rumors were true, “It would be a huge statement and a great role for Phoebe.”
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 36, is the creator, writer, and star of the BBC comedy series “Fleabag.” She has also starred in “Killing Eve,” “Broadchurch,” “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” and “No Time to Die.”
The film also stars Mads Mikkelsen, a Danish actor who is best known for starring as Hannibal Lecter in the “Hannibal” TV series that ran on NBC from 2013-2015. He is also taking over the role of Gellert Grindelwald from Johnny Depp in “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” with a release date set for April 15, 2022.
StevenSpielberg was originally set to make his return as director, but he has been replaced by James Mangold. The "Logan" director produced the 2020 film “Call of the Wild” in which Ford also starred.
