Another reason fans are so excited for LL Cool J to host and perform at the ceremony is that they missed the opportunity to see him perform when he canceled his performance at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest because he tested positive for COVID-19.

In a press statement the musician released at the time, he said, "I know it's disappointing to the millions of fans, but my test came back positive for COVID, which means I'll no longer be able to perform as scheduled at NYRE."
