Julianne Hough Finally Settles Divorce With Brooks Laich

Dancer Julianne Hough has finally settled her divorce from her ex-husband Brooks Laich.

Hough filed the notice that the judgment package was settled by the courts on February 22, 2022. The judgment packages are submitted to the court for a judge to review. Once it’s reviewed and signed off on by a judge, the parties are officially divorced and the terms of their settlement can be enforced.

This usually involved spousal support, an equalization payment, and division of community or separate property. The couple had no children together so there were no issues regarding custody arrangements.

Although the pair tied the knot in 2017, they were looking to go their separate ways by November 2020, when Hough officially filed for divorce months after announcing their split.

The couple put out a joint statement regarding their separation, saying, “We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate,” the two said in a statement to People. “We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward.”

In 2020, The Blast was the first to obtain the legal documents, which Hough filed at the Los Angeles County Courts. One source told US Weekly that Hough was at fault for the divorce, saying, “Brooks did not want a divorce, but he felt pushed toward it because of how Julianne was behaving. But Brooks is not the one who is bummed now.”

Later in November, The Blast obtained legal documents of Laich responding to Hough’s divorce filing. In the paperwork, the former NHL star terminated the court’s ability to award him spousal support. He also asked the court not to reward her with any money in the pending divorce. Elsewhere in the filing, Laich concurred with Hough that they could not come up with an exact date of their separation. However, he agreed that, as of the time of the divorce, they were “no longer a couple.”

The Blast reported at the time that the couple had signed a prenup before getting married and Laich did not seem to be challenging it. This communicates to the court that each partner in the relationship is able to support themselves financially after the divorce.

However, rumors started swirling that the “Dancing with the Stars” dancer was having a hard time with the split due to a cryptic Instagram post she shared at the time.

On World Kindness Day, she posted, “This year we’ve needed kindness more than ever, and that starts from within. Fast forward to November 2021 and it seems that both of them have each moved on.

As The Blast previously reported, Laich has already moved on with CrossFit athlete Katrín TanjaDavíðsdóttir, who made their relationship Instagram-official after she posted a photo of the pair sipping coconuts through straws.

“Life is better with a couple coconuts & this favorite human of mine,” she captioned the snap.

In November, Hough was photographed kissing a tall, white, tattooed man outside of a restaurant in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon. After they exchanged a hug, the potential couple headed inside to pick up “green juices and a brown bag of food.”

Hough was dressed for the fall in a fuzzy brown jacket, gray sweatpants, and what looks to be UGG slip-on slippers. The man she was kissing was dressed in a green t-shirt, brown slacks, and white sneakers.

Although rumors were swirling that Hough had started dating “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” actor Ben Barnes, a source told PEOPLE that the two are “just friends” after they were photographed together on an ice cream outing.

“They have been friends for eight years,” the source said. “There is nothing more to it.”
