Uma Thurman Was Anxious About Daughter, Maya Hawke, Becoming An Actress

Maya Hawke, the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, has become a brand name in Hollywood, landing roles in movies like "Fear Street," "Stranger Things," and "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood."
However, Thurman, her mom, had some reservations about her daughter's decision to become an actress.
"It's a complicated career," the 51-year-old "Pulp Fiction" actress explained to Access. She also emphasized the "public-facing" life that came with it.
"She's a sensitive person. Any protective parent would be anxious for their child to go into the public arena, not because they want to be in the public arena, but because they're so creative. You just wish they'd find any other way to be creative."
However, after watching her daughter perform, she eventually came around to the idea of her pursuing the art full time. "She's, in the end, such a brilliant actress. There's nothing else that she would have ever done. Her talent was so great; it's what she had to do."
Thurman Didn't Impose On Maya's Decision

Despite her reservations concerning her career, Thurman never tried to redirect her daughter. "Because this industry is so much tougher on women, my mom had reservations about me not becoming an actor, but becoming a public figure," Maya said in an interview with Nylon in 2020.
However, her mother did issue her a piece of advice right off the bat.
Maya recalled the "Super Pumped" actress speaking about the entertainment industry's focus on women's looks and physical appearances. She also advised her to be intentional and thoughtful about her accepting roles, encouraging her to "make the choices you want to make" instead of getting swept up in the "starlet tornado."
"My mom understands in a different way from my dad how difficult that is," Maya added. "Because the voices are not as strong, the whispers are not as strong in men's ears."

The actress was married to Ethan, an actor known for his role in the "Before" trilogy written by Richard Linklater. Although they were divorced in 2005, the pair continue to co-parent Maya and their 20-year-old Levon, who has been reported to feature in the "Stranger Things" series. The latter has been kept out of the spotlight but appeared to be branching out after he turned 18.
Although the role he'll take in the Netflix show is unknown, he was spotted filming scenes alongside Joe Keery and Sadie Sink.
The 20-year-old stood out for his first scenes with his blond hair dyed fiery red and styled in spikes. He also donned a band T-Shirt and glam rock makeup.
Although Maya was seen on set the day before, it appeared that she wasn't on the same scene with her brother.
Maya joined the cast for "Stranger Things" last year for the role of Robin, an alternative girl who works alongside Keery at the Starcourt Ice-cream Parlor.

Production for the fourth season of the series started on February 14, 2020, with creators teasing a return of Hopper.
They also posted a video from a table read in early March, but the filming was shut down on the thirteenth of the same month.
This hiatus allowed the creators and their writing staff to complete the season's scripts, with all eight episodes written by mid-June.
However, the series finally has a release date, and it'll be coming out in two batches; the first batch on May 27, 2022, and the second on July 1, 2022.
This was announced in a statement by the creators that read, "With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can't wait to share it with you."
The producer also acknowledged that although the fourth season took longer than intended, it was worth the wait.
Which Casts Are Returning?

The bedrock of the show is its larger-than-life crew, so fans should expect the following back on their screens again: Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Max (Sadie Sink), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Will (Noah Schnapp), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Robin (Maya Hawke) and Joyce (Winona Ryder), among others.
However, despite his tragic end in the third season, David Harbour will be returning as Hopper.
In his interview with Total Change, he explained that his character had to undergo some changes, adding, "So we'll see a very different guy going forward. The same guy, but in a different vein. It's a very cool thing to be able to play."
