To answer the question in the headline, we could say that both Jodie Sweetin and Leighton Meester are actresses, and mostly TV actors at that. But that’s now the most interesting bit of what they have in common.

The answer has got something to do with their parents and where Meester and Sweetin were brought into the world, which makes for less than ideal situations. But both have made the most of out it, so here’s Sweetin’s not-a-secret secret, and a bit about Meester.

Jodie Sweetin has not had the easiest of lives, after getting caught up with alcoholism and methamphetamine addiction. Sober since 2011, Sweetin has made the most of her failed marriages and is now happily engaged to Mescal Wasilewski, who popped the question in January, just a week after Bob Saget’s death hit the “Full House” family hard.

Said Sweetin, gushing about him, “It's wonderful. My boyfriend, well, fiancé — gosh, I have to get used to that now — my fiancé and I have been together about four and a half years ... So, it's so nice to really make this official. My kids love him. My parents love him. We have a really great little family dynamic here.”

The cool thing is that Sweetin also turned 40 earlier in January, right after both these events, and hitting this milestone birthday has taught her one thing, that life always goes on.

Said Sweetin, in an interview, "It's this reminder that life isn't waiting for you to finish processing before it moves on to the next thing. And that's OK. Life just keeps coming. Life is always in session. We have to remember that even in the most painful moments," she added, "something good can happen, and we can allow that in."

Meanwhile, her new movie "Just Swipe" will stream on-demand on February 8, so there's plenty cooking for Sweetin.

But what's the one thing she and Meester have in common?

On "Wild Ride" Sweetin was upfront, saying "My mom was in jail when I was born. I was born in jail, technically in USC County on the inmate floor."

She then went on to say that luckily, her biological mom and dad had friends and family, who were related to her adopted dad. In fact, it was her adopted dad's ex-wife's family and kids who brought her "home". And Sweetin is more than happy to share this fact because it makes her a survivor.

In a recent interview, Sweetin also said that she was okay about not connecting with her biological parents, going as far as saying, "As far as I know, they’re not alive, and I’m totally OK with that."

But she has no complaints either. "There’s this point in your life where you finally kind of realize what happened. That it no longer becomes something about you, that it’s like, ‘Oh, I wasn’t wanted,’” she continued. “It was like, ‘No, they actually made the healthiest decision for me by allowing me to be adopted by another family that could provide better.’”

This is her, telling her birth story.

Meester was also born in prison, rather, her mother was transferred to the hospital to give birth but had another 16 months to serve. Infant Meester was given to her grandmother, where she awaited her mother and father's release from prison, considering the whole family was involved in a drug-smuggling ring.

The entire cast of "Full House" and its reprisal, "Fuller House" took the sudden passing of Bob Saget hard. Saget played Danny Tanner on the show, and over the years had become a father figure to his on-screen daughters, including Sweetin.

After she had time to process his death, Sweetin said, "I'm OK now. It was an incredible shock and I think those first two weeks were really, really a lot. And as it happens, you walk through and you process it But I will say, I'm so grateful that I got to spend so much time with everyone and when someone passes, it's always that thing where it's like, 'Wow, Bob, all the stories and all of the laughs and all of the wonderful things,' and I just keep saying that Bob would have loved that everyone was talking about him. (laughs). He would've been like, 'Oh, this is so great! I mean, I don't deserve it, but tell me more.'"
