2003 called, and it is ready to remind us of one of its biggest pop culture pairings!
Hilary Duff found herself reliving a long-forgotten part of her past this week. The "How I Met Your Mother" star shared a reel on her Instagram story yesterday of a video from the Betches Media account, featuring a bunch of young students watching a slideshow of celebrities who were famous during the decade of graphic t-shirts and Juicy Catore tracksuits, and trying their best to guess their identities!

The slideshow began with a photo of a teenage Duff as her signature character Lizzie McGuire, and a kid can be heard exclaiming "Lindsay Lohan!"
'So Yesterday': Revisiting Hilary And Lindsay's Feud
If reading the names of these two celebs in the same sentence seems familiar, you would be correct! The former Disney stars were both well-known It girls of the early '00s, Duff being known for her aforementioned role on "Lizzie McGuire," a coming-of-age Disney Channel sitcom featuring Lizzie and her friends navigating their early teen years.
Lindsay Lohan rose to fame in the late 1990s when she starred in the remake of the beloved classic, "The Parent Trap." By 2003, Lohan had a few more memorable film roles to her name, and Duff was getting ready to add 'pop singer' to her resume with the release of her debut album "Metamorphosis" that Summer.
Both girls had a lot of star power and also had the attention of a young heartthrob, singer Aaron Carter!
The singer responsible for the early 2000s pop classics "Aaron's Party" and "That's How I Beat Shaq," charmed Duff after his guest appearance on an early episode of "Lizzie McGuire." The two teens were taken with each other, and according to PopSugar, the pair started dating on his 13th birthday.
Puppy love can get messy, and it definitely did when it came to Carter and Duff's relationship! Soon after, Lindsay Lohan entered the picture, after Carter "Got a little bored so I went and started getting to know Lindsay, [and] dating Lindsay. That's not quite a party, Aaron!
These ladies eventually found out Carter had been dating both of them, and needless to say, they did not have many good things to say about each other in the press. Duff and Lohan battled it out in interviews and "Saturday Night Live" sketches long after both actresses had ended their respective relationships with Carter.
What Hilary Had To Say
Nearly two decades after she feuded with Lohan, Duff responded to the Instagram reel by correcting the kids and saying "Although it's Hilary Duff b----es aka Lizzie, Live it, learn it... floral pants are back!"
Styles may change, but one thing is for sure: Duff is happy she has outgrown that era of her life. She added, "Man am I happy to not have to be 'good' for the kids anymore" to the end of her message, according to Us Weekly.
Years after the fact both Duff and Lohan are thriving professionally. Duff wrapped up her role on "Younger" when the series finale aired last year and is now playing the lead in Hulu's "How I Met Your Father." Lohan has recently made a triumphant return to the public eye in a commercial for Planet Fitness that aired during the 2022 Super Bowl.
Duff may be relieved not to have to maintain the strict image of her Disney years, but this surprising and nostalgic nod to her past was certainly a nostalgia trip for her fans! Some might say "It's what dreams are made of!"
