Rosario Dawson & Cory Booker Call It Quits After 2 Years Of Dating

“Star Wars” actress Rosario Dawson and U.S. Senator Cory Booker just called it quits after more than two years of dating.

The news was first reported by PEOPLE who said that a source close to Booker confirmed that they are no longer together. However, the couple is still said to remain good friends.

The pair first met at a political fundraiser in 2018. Although the sparks didn't fly right away, Booker admitted to the Washington Post that he was smitten with her when the pair reconnected in 2019.

“I mean, gosh, that night we talked for hours and hours,” Booker recalled. “I had trouble asking for her phone number ... I think I said something really stupid like, 'Uh, how would I get in touch with you?' And she mercifully said something like, 'Oh, you want my phone number?' And my insides were like, 'H---, yeah!'”

Although Dawson didn’t feel anything for him at first either, she said that she found him to be “confident,” “capable,” and “so charming.”

“It's not like that translates to being some super-smooth kind of guy,” she said at the time. “That's not his style.” Instead, she revealed what did win her over... his sense of humor!

“What wins me over with him is definitely the dad jokes,” she teased.

TMZ seemed to confirm the news of their involvement when the pair were spotted together at an airport in Washington, D.C.

“So far so wonderful,” Dawson had said at the time. “He's a wonderful human being. It's good to spend some time together when we can.”

Although he had a busy schedule as a U.S. Senator and then-presidential candidate, Rosario was equally busy with her filming schedule. However, the two found time to make their relationship work.

In May 2020, the couple decided to face the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown together when she moved into his home in Newark, New Jersey.

In October 2020, Booker, now 52, told Buzzfeed that this was the first time he had ever lived together with someone.

“This is the first time in my life I've really lived with somebody — and obviously Rosario and I are enjoying and adjusting to that, right?” he said at the time.

Booker said that he never sat down and ate a meal at a table as a long-time bachelor until he and Dawson started dating.

“I have not done that, really, as a bachelor, where I actually sit at a table and just, like, breathe and eat a meal,” Booker recalled. “And just set a table — I can't tell you how rarely do I set the table as a bachelor, you know, as a guy living alone.”

“So it's just really nice to set a table, have somebody to say grace with, before a meal,” he shared. “It's just those small things really are, I'm finding, incredibly enriching.”

Last year, Booker told PEOPLE that he had started to adopt Rosario’s plant-based lifestyle and the two had been cooking together in the kitchen a lot more.

“Literally she just bought a food processor, a Cuisinart thing, for our kitchen yesterday,” he said. “So I'm very excited about just expanding my capability to make delicious, healthy, whole plant-based food at home.”

In 2021, the “Ahsoka” star talked about how she follows a plant-focused diet. Every few months, she changes up the vegetables she puts into her diet depending on what is in season.

In the summer, Dawson likes to grab some overnight oats. In the winter, she turns to a bowl of warm oatmeal or the ever-popular avocado toast to start her day off with plenty of fiber from healthy carbs. For lunch, she will use vegetables to cook up a stir-fry or create a big salad out of whatever ingredients she can find in her fridge.

Her dinner looks similar to lunch, but she is admittedly a big fan of noodles, especially ramen. She loves a lot of spice in her food and has admitted to using “a lot of ginger” in her cooking. She added that she likes to “put turmeric in everything” too.
