Actor Simon Pegg was born on February 14, 1970, which means that today is his 52 birthday! Simon John Pegg was born in Brockworth, England.

He's not only an actor, though. He is also a comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He co-created the Channel 4 sitcom "Spaced" and later went on to cowrite and star in the "Three Flavours Cornetto" film trilogy, which consisted on "Shaun of the Dead" in 2004, "Hot Fuzz" in 2007, and "The World's End" in 2013. He and costar Nick Frost later wrote and starred in the sci-fi film "Paul" in 2011.

Pegg has also been known to play supporting characters in many popular franchises. He appeared in "Doctor Who" in 2005. He played Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in "Star Trek" from 2009 to 2016. He played Unkar Plutt on Jakku opposite Daisy Ridley as Rey in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which is the first film in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy. He currently stars as Benji Dunn in the "Mission: Impossible" film series, which started in 2006.

He also voices Buck in the "Ice Age" animated film franchise, which consisted of "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" in 2009, "Ice Age: Collision Course" in 2016, and "The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild" in 2022.

Although the exact date of Frederick Douglass' birth was never recorded, he reportedly celebrated his birthday on February 14 each year. He was born in Maryland in 1818.

Douglass was born Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey and became a social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman.

After escaping from slavery in Maryland, he became a national leader of the abolitionist movement in both New York and Massachusetts. Douglass became well-known for his powerful speeches and antislavery writing. He was also a strong supporter of the women's suffrage movement.

Douglass wrote three autobiographies about his life, describing his experience as a slave in "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave" in 1845. After the book became a bestseller, he followed it up with "My Bondage and My Freedom" in 1855. His last autobiography, "Life and Times of Frederick Douglass" was published in 1881 and raised in 1892 to cover events both during and after the Civil War.

Douglass became the first African American nominated for Vice President of the United States as the running mate and Vice Presidential nominee of Victoria Woodhull on the Equal Rights Party ticket - albeit without his permission!
