Will Smith, who played Deadshot alongside Jared Leto's Joker Margot and Robbie's Harley Quinn in "Suicide Squad," recently voiced out his support for a release of the cut footage.
"Let me tell you, there's a whole lot that stayed on the floor for 'Suicide Squad," he admitted to Variety's Marc Malkin while on the red carpet of "Bel-Air." "I'm into it. I love that world. I love what was created in both versions. I absolutely would love to [see it]."
Since the movie's release in 2016, the movie director, David Ayer, has been vocal about how his original intention differed from the final cut. There were also speculations about how he cut Jared Leto's screen time as the Joker. However, this has been vehemently denied; he explained that Leto's screen time was due to his performance.
"That is inaccurate information," the director said at the time. "Not my words or actions."
Justice League Also Suffered A Similar Experience
Unfortunately, "Suicide Squad" isn't the only DC movie to suffer a change in the plot; "Justice League" also suffered the same fate. After Director Zach Snyder left the movie over inevitable disagreements, his role was taken over by Joss Whedon, leading to rework in the movie structure.
Whedon eventually put out something entirely different from what was initially made, leading to its flop at the box office.
However, HBO Max offered the original director to release his movie on their TV network. It became the most viewed and publicly discussed film on the service.
'The Suicide Squad' Didn’t Do Well Either
"The Suicide Squad", the James Gunn sequel, was released last year and although it was applauded by critics, the movie didn’t do too well at the box office either. It was subsequently released on HBO max were it found success and also spawned off a spinoff, "Peacemaker."
This seemed to indicate that streaming takes on a different life for any movie and can aid in unprecedented success in a time of cinematic lows.

Despite the streaming success of the second "Suicide Squad" movie, Ann Sarnoff, the WarnerMedia CEO, said the studio had no plans to develop an Ayer cut, escalating more outrage over his version being left on the floor. As it continues to build its services and entice customers, there is plenty of room for an alternative finished cut of highly successful movies in HBO Max's library, like "Suicide Squad."
About Smith's 'Bel-Air' Series
Although a long time has passed since Smith became a comic book antihero, a long time has passed since the launch of his sitcom, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."
The series launched Smith to starlight and put him on the path for becoming a four-time Oscar nominee and blockbuster mainstay.
The sitcom explores a young man of color who relocates from West Philadelphia to the expensive Los Angeles neighborhood.

"This pilot, what people are about to see, this thing is so amazing to me," Smith said on the carpet. "I vowed we would never touch 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air…' You leave certain things alone. But when creator Morgan Cooper] came up with the idea of the dramatic version [it created] the opening up of new ideas with meat on the bone that we would be able to address. I got very excited about it. That was the first time that I heard something, I was like, 'Yo, that's an idea that is brilliant,'" Smith concluded.
Cooper, who also doubles as the co-executive producer, is the series' director. Smith serves as an executive producer on the movie via his Westbrook Studios label.
Benny Medina, Quincy Jones, and original series creators Susan and Andy Borowitz also serve as executive producers. Other executive producers include Westbrook Studios' Terence Carter, Malcolm Spellman, Miguel Melendez, and James Lassiter.
Smith Was Nominated For An Oscar Award
Upon unveiling the nomination list of the Academy Awards, Smith has been reported to be on the list for the first time in fifteen years.
He was nominated for the Best Actor award for his role "King Richard," which follows the story of a man who did everything to turn his twin daughters, Serena and Venus Williams, into globally recognized tennis legends.
In 2002, Smith was nominated for the same award for his role in "Ali" but lost it to Denzel Washington for "Training Day."

Unfortunately lost the award to Forest Whitaker for his role in "The Last King Of Scotland."
Although it's too early to know if he'd win the award this year, this movie has earned him recognition from Golden Globes and nominations from BAFTA, Critic "s Choice, and SAG.
